Private practice options
I've started my research on private practice and how to get started, but I have heard mixed reviews on using platforms like headway, rula, alma, etc vs just starting your own business by getting an LLC and going that route. Anyone have any tips/suggestions?

Hi Ariel, I've been in PP for a while and have dealt with many insurances over the years. As far as business, you will still set up your own business (deciding if you want to do an LLC, sole proprietor, or other options depending on the state you are in). Then, you decide if you want Alma or Headway to credential you with insurance through them or if you want to credential on your own or take insurance at all. I am enrolled with Alma because I got higher reimbursement rates through them, got on a few insurance panels that had denied me as an individual, and I love that they deal with the billing headaches. No matter what you decide, however, you will want to understand how insurance works if you take it. I agree with Dr. Jones that I am so happy I added Alma.

Hi all, I'm Amanda and I'm an LMFT-S in Texas. I've been doing this a longgggg time. LOL I worked in community mental health for about 17 years all in youth and family programs, then I worked for the state for a year, and then I went into full time private practice. I run both a full private practice www.positivechangescounseling.net and also a business mentorship company focused on helping therapists, coaches, and wellness practitioners expand their business beyond one on one hourly sessions www.alignandembody.com . I provide live clinical trainings a few times a year, but otherwise focus more of my offerings on helping people expand their businesses.

I have a Ph.D in MFT. I’m also an LPC-S with the state of Texas. I specialize in couples, women’s issues, anxiety and depression.
