This Week: Life, Oils and Power
This week has been so busy. It didn’t go as I’d planned. Life and the needs of those I love took over like Calgon and carried me away. (IYKYK) And that’s ok. I’m good with it. I used a beautiful blend to keep my energy up. Another one to fight the virus that’s coming at me. And still another one to study for my sermon. (Yes. If you didn’t know. I’m also a Pastor 🙏🏾) Life is unpredictable. Even when we’ve got it all scheduled! 😂 I’m glad that my anchor holds in the Solid Rock of Jesus. And His Blood covers! My Essential Oils are doing what they do! I’m suited up in the Armor of God. But Power belongs to Him! HalleluYah and Amen! 🙏🏾 What’s your week’s win?

How over-functioning quietly shows up in high-achieving women
Have you ever noticed when you have moved into over functioning? It looks like: • Being the dependable one • Anticipating needs before they’re spoken • Taking initiative without being asked • Solving problems quickly and efficiently From the outside? She looks powerful. Inside her body? It can feel very different. High-achieving women are often wired to perform under pressure. They’re thoughtful, responsible, capable. But when achievement becomes identity, the body can start living in a subtle state of bracing. Over-functioning isn’t always loud stress. It’s chronic “I’ve got this.” And the body interprets that as: Stay alert. Stay ready. Don’t drop the ball. Over time, this can show up physically as: • Tight shoulders and jaw • Shallow breathing • Afternoon fatigue • Hormonal irregularities • Digestive changes • Inflammation that doesn’t fully settle Because the body heals in safety — not in self-imposed responsibility. What I often see is this quiet belief: “If I don’t carry it, it won’t get carried.” “If I slow down, everything falls apart.” That belief keeps the system slightly elevated — even when life looks calm. This is where supportive practices — including aromatherapy — can be powerful. 🌿 Certain scents help: • Signal safety to the limbic system • Encourage deeper exhale • Soften vigilance • Create space between reaction and response But the deeper shift isn’t just physiological. It’s learning that your value isn’t tied to how much you hold. When high-achieving women soften even 10%, their bodies often respond beautifully: Steadier energy. More regulated hunger. Clearer thinking. Better sleep. Not because they stopped being capable. But because they stopped carrying what was never meant to be theirs alone. I’d love to hear — where do you notice yourself over-functioning? And what would it feel like to release just a little of it?

@Pat Terrell I notice it when I have been on a role, and gotten into a creative frenzy and 8 hours have gone by. It’s fun but may not always be the wisest!
