When Someone Sees the Vision
I’ve been sitting with something I want to share with you. I wrote a book — You Get What You Get — and I originally thought it would be published by the end of January. Then my mom passed away. I put everything on hold. When I picked my manuscript back up, I realized I needed to learn so much more about the self-publishing process. After watching YouTube videos and finding another Skool community, I understood I had a lot of work to do. That began the process of reaching out to trusted colleagues, inspiring entrepreneurs, and my guiding mentors to write blurbs. I sent the book to about 10 people, and almost everyone agreed to support me. One of them suggested I reach out to a mutual friend about hosting the launch. Before I could even ask — she emailed me first! She said she’d been pulled into the book and wanted to know if I’d like to host a talk at her place. All aligns when you identify who you are. You get what you get because you get who you are.

Legacy = New Generational Patterns
I had one of those moments this weekend that made me pause and reflect on legacy. While I was in Los Angeles, my friend and I took my son Brenton’s fitness class. Now… my friend has taught group fitness for TWENTY YEARS. After class she leaned over and said: “Dawn… he’s good. He’s really good. And he has the look.” That meant a lot coming from her. But I was watching with another lens too. I became a certified yoga teacher in 2013. A 500-hour teacher in 2019. And I trained 24 people to become yoga instructors. So I know what it takes to lead a room. Brenton did it with ease. He commanded the space. His instructions were clear. He told people what they were doing, how to do it, when to do it, and the name of the movement again. Anyone who has trained teachers knows how important that is. He sequenced the entire class well and even timed the music perfectly. That can take years to learn. But what struck me most wasn’t just his skill. It was the cycle. The work we do on ourselves doesn’t stop with us. For years I’ve been studying and teaching about identity, patterns, and the ways we can interrupt the cycles we inherit. That work is a big part of my book. Watching my son confidently step into leadership reminded me of something powerful: When one person in a family begins doing deep identity work, the next generation often steps into a different possibility. A new cycle. And seeing that in real life is pretty incredible. Just wanted to share that moment with you all today. 💗

🌿 Somatic Check-In: Where is your body asking you to pause?
Lately, I’ve been paying closer attention to my body instead of pushing past it. After a major life transition, my left knee started speaking up. Not loudly. Not dramatically. Just enough to get my attention. Instead of trying to fix it right away, I got curious. It reminded me that our bodies often hold the wisdom of transition.Knees, especially, live in that in-between space; the moment between standing still and stepping forward. They carry trust, flexibility, and support. So I want to invite you into a gentle check-in today. Take a breath. Scan your body without judgment. 👉🏽 Where do you notice sensation, tightness, or fatigue right now? You might reflect on: - Feet – support, grounding, stability - Knees – transition, trust, readiness to move forward - Hips – carrying, holding, emotional load - Shoulders – responsibility, pressure, expectations - Jaw or neck – holding back words or tension There’s no right answer. Nothing to fix. Just notice. If you feel comfortable, share in the comments: - the body part that stood out - one word that describes what it feels like This is the kind of listening we’re leaning into more here as we build new resources and community conversations. Slow. Honest. Supportive. Because pain isn’t always a problem.Sometimes it’s a pause button with purpose. 💛
