The CSCS Accelerator Quiz App
It wasn't on my 2026 bingo card to add "App Developer" to my resume. But then Canvas crashed, and with that, we lost one of the most robust features of our CSCS Accelerator Course, one that I had put HUNDREDS of hours into curating. The Canvas Quiz platform was robust enough to handle question and answer randomization, immediate vs delayed feedback, multiple question banks, and many other useful learning features. And as hard as I've tried, I haven't found a better platform for our CSCS practice quizzes and practice exams. So I built my own. And CSCS Accelerator Course members get access to it. TODAY. Look for an email with the heading "Welcome to the CSCS Accelerator Quiz App." It contains a link that expires within 24 hours (Why does it expire? Because I couldn't figure out how to change that setting. If you miss it, just let me know). Once you sign up, start your practice! And please know that this is a web-based, beta version of the app. There are still features I'm working on, some formatting issues, and possibly some user interface issues. But by and large, it's ready to rock. If you are interested in joining the next cohort of the CSCS Accelerator Course before it fills up, you can find all the details here: https://www.drjacobgoodin.com/ The live sessions kick off August 3rd, but once you sign up you'll gain immediate access to the course, as well as the Accelerator Quiz App ahead of public release.

I'm having trouble logging in. When I tried to change the password it said "auth session missing!" and if I tried to login it said "invalid login credentials". Let me know what you need me to do! 🫡
🙇🏼‍♂️CSCS Prep that helped me📚
Hey Coaches, Sorry it's taken some time to pull this together. But, here we go.... The exam (w/o going into specific questions) As far as I could tell, they didn't slip any questions from the Essentials Fifth Edition. It's coming up though, I think later this summer. Definitely know Chapter 21. Memorize table 21.2. This just takes repetition but you'll be glad you did. Write it out over and over again. When you get your two pieces of paper or dry-erase board when taking the exam, just sketch out the table quickly at the beginning. You will refer to it several times during the exam. The videos and pictures used to assess technique were mostly obvious. There was one weird exercise where the athlete was doing downward leg chops while stepping forward. I couldn't find the name of the exercise afterward, so I'm not sure if I accurately noted whether they were performing the exercise correctly or not. (BTW, I would never ask an athlete to perform it, just sayin'). The nutrition calculations were not overly challenging. Just know how to do them. Everything else is just as Dr. Goodin says. Preparation I created an Excel spreadsheet to guide my preparation. One tab was the tracker and schedule for reviewing the lectures and quizzes. This way I never accidentally skipped over any of the lectures. For planning purposes, I noted the dates I planned to review each chapter. Of course, I was always changing the dates, but it helped me stay more on track than I would have without tracking them. Same with quizzes and the section tests. The other tab was where I noted the concepts I wanted to revisit. This served the purpose of focusing me on those most important concepts I would need to keep coming back to after reviewing 24 chapters of material and so I could solidify the important and challenging concepts. My biggest challenge was retaining all of the material from chapter to chapter. So instead of trying to retain all of the material, my "Concepts to Revisit" list was a huge help.

This is awesome @Christopher Smith ! I'd love some help setting up a similar Claude environment to accompany my studying.
Post Exam Thoughts
Yesterday, I took the exam and passed the Practical Section with 98/110. However, I failed the Science Section by 1 point. 🙄 For me, I thought the Practical side of things would be the hardest section, but turns out not. So I want to list out a reflection on the exam and what to do differently for the Science section. For the Practical —> What Went Well • For several days, I had reviewed all of the agility tests in the CSCS book + I watched videos on them. I am really glad I did because there were a lot of questions on them in the exam (which I was surprised about). • Fortunately through my own coaching experience, I understood the faults to look for in the major lifts, like Back Squat, Front Squat, Bench, Clean and so on. I also knew the progressions for each, specifically the power clean and clean. I think if you don’t know what to look for, and how to progress these, you absolutely should as there are several questions / videos / photos on this. • I understood what the exercise order should be for testing day and training day. • I had a good understanding of what counts as power development, strength development, hypertrophy, and muscular endurance. And I’ve written programs on these already. There were questions like: “ Sally has the below characteristics: Height: 5’6 Weight: 124lbs Vertical jump: 15” 1RM Back Squat: 145lb What should Sally work on in her programming?” • There were a few questions on nutrition I felt good with. Such as, referral to an RD, understanding how much protein a person needs, carb loading strategies, and issues to look for such as bulimia, anorexia, and binge eating (and which sport has the most at risk for these disorders). What did not go as well: • Facility rules. I’m a little disappointed in this one as I feel like I should know, but spacing between racks, policies and procedures in the S&C gym, who a club team should ask to use the S&C gym, role of an assistant S&C coach…😅 • I forgot some calculations for some of the nutrition questions. Specifically calculating caloric needs using body weight only (“Bill is a college athlete weighing 100kg. What should his daily caloric intake be?”)

Thank you for sharing your experience! This is all super helpful and it sounds like you’re in an excellent spot when you go to retake it! 💪🏼
Introduction
Hi everyone! I'm Alli. I'm a coach and I run my own training company out of Cincinnati, OH. At the moment, most of my training is focused on keeping me feeling athletic and able to enjoy outdoor activities but I grew up a competitive athlete and I'm finding myself with more and more athletes or clients pursuing more athletic endeavors, which led me here! I actually graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree but quickly learned that wasn't for me so I transitioned to coaching in 2020 and haven't looked back. I haven't sat for my CSCS yet, but looking forward to this and being a sponge. I'm excited to learn with all of you! My fun facts are that I'm learning German and that I continue to play every generation of Pokémon every time there's a release. I'm fortunate to have access to a great gym called RTS Barbell but am slowly building out our home/soon-to-be garage gym.
