Here's your chord chart for Hallelujah!
Here's your chord chart for Hallelujah (originally by Leonard Cohen)! Both in Roman numerals (best for transposing to other keys) and in the key of C (which we'll play it in tonight!)! Here's your homework: post in the comments your favorite cover of this song!

Listen to the best bansuri flute! 🎵 To inform your improvising
I've now had a Pandora account for over 20 years! What I love about Pandora is that you can put in a song you like, and then it makes an educated guess as to which music you'll like and it plays those songs. When you 👍or👎a track it gets even better at guessing! One of my favorite stations is Om Namo Bhagavate Radio. Sometimes these radical flute solos come on and I just love it! But usually I am so in the flow when I'm listening that I never think, "who's playing that flute? I want to listen to this again!" Tonight I noticed this song with some really awesome flute and paused to take note for you!! So awesome that I made a new category of posts here: 🔊Listening List🎼! This is for sharing recordings of your favorite flutists... Help me fill it with videos of your favorite performances & performers! Don't forget to tell us why you love it. ☺️ I'm pretty sure this is Manose Singh playing flute on this recording! What I love about it: 🪈 The flute is really subtle in the beginning... low & slow. I love this texture. 🪈 The flute is the perfect compliment to the voices. I feel like the voice is there representing the spirit of the wind, like some mythical creature like a faerie, or an earthly flying creature like a dragonfly or butterfly. 🪈 I love how "free" the flute feels in the solo time & garnish time. Free-flowing, unencumbered... I envy this level of freedom and try to emulate it in my own playing! 😮 I'm jealous of those pitch bends! 🔷 Have you ever tried playing a bansuri flute? What did you learn about flute from the experience? PS - Join me on Monday nights after improv games for some fluting with songs not too different from this one and don't forget to share & read your most heart-warming flute moments in the January Intros Contest

I love the bansuri. The master is Hariprasad Chaurasia, still going strong at 87! I have two bansuri I've tried messing around with - one smaller one in D and a large one that's almost too big for me in A :)

@Robert Johnson maybe... it's def better than my chanter playing. but perhaps only slightly 😂
Guided Meditations Go Great with Flute Music!
One of my intentions for 2026: To create more flute meditation music. I've received some really wonderful compliments in 2025 with regards to my flute playing: they said it took them into a deep state of meditation and rest. I promised my friend Karen that I'd produce some flute meditations this year. So I was intrigued when I connected with Ahmy Brook through another Skool community (for group owners!) and read that she helps people manage thoughts, calm emotions, and find balance... I wondered, what similarities might she have in her community & ours? Might she have something to teach us about managing performance anxiety and building improv confidence? So she shared with me her meditation on Confidence and now I'm sharing it with you... After I've added my own flavor of flute accompaniment. Rather than using some "generic" background track to accompany her voice, now it has my flute sounds. I just added some reverb and played as I was moved by the meditation... sometimes playfully mimicking the scene Ahmy describes or mimicking the tone & rhythm of her voice. I'm actually not satisfied with this recording because of the "hiss" of background noise! But since this group and the "Improvisation Waterfall" category are not about perfection but about making progress, I decided to share it with you today as well. I promised myself I would get at least 1% better with the sound quality next time I record. Listen here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yjjkr7HPI-TyGnYDAPFl-QgJ5dMA1QVV/view?usp=sharing You can look forward to another recording in the future. Would you like to hear more guided meditations + flute music in 2026? Who wants the original voice recording so you can try adding your own flute sounds?
