ROLEX VS G-SHOCK and long exposure to sub-0 celsius
Greetings gents. So here is the story. I have a disagreement with one gentlemen what is better for ''0 zero use''. ROLEX VS G-SHOCK and or mill spec SMART watches for sub 0 temps. Me personally haven't any issues with multi day exposure in - 15-25 C using GW-5000-HS-1ER (made for japan inner market), AMAZFIT T-REX 2 (eco mode on sensors on minimum or off when not needed). Question. Some one has problems with G-SHOCKS on the wrist when outside for 2-3 days in winter? Or what so ever related to cold? Because I don't know what I'm doing wrong with my watches and they still have working battery. What is your expirience?
@Warren Money reason why I like g-shocks and mill spec watches - we have - 45 celsius at winter and +45 celsius at summer🤷‍♂️ Some times I work in my yard for whole day, repairing my old hous. Some works are quite intense on +45. So I need to monitor hart beat to not increase reasonable parameters.
@Warren Money I think you have even more in summer any way
Old School Seiko
I haven’t worn this for a while, but….this Seiko Coutura strikes a confident balance between modern edge and executive polish, with its black ion-plated case and bracelet offset by sharp gold accents that add just the right amount of flash.
Old School Seiko
@Darren Poesel I love and respect the old-school quality of SEIKO. Those watches are gorgeous. After so many financial crises, too many corners have been cut in manufacturing.
@Darren Poesel we have too much marketing and much less quality in this days.
Cartier Tank advice
Gents, I think I’m about to pull the trigger on (for me) a significant purchase: a Cartier Tank. Going for entry level Must model and leaning toward the SolarBeat. My question is whether anyone here owns it and can endorse the choice— whether there’s any difference to the Solar v regular Quartz that I should consider. Thanks!
Cartier Tank advice
I have a solar G-SHOCK. Cons of solar: Any solar watch can have trouble coming back to life if the battery is fully discharged. Important: you need to keep them charged and in use. If they just sit somewhere without proper sunlight access, like in my living room even during the day, problems can start. Fewer complications is always better. Usually, the manual explains this. Some solar watches unfortunately turn into an expensive brick once fully discharged. I doubt a well-known brand would knowingly produce something that fragile. Pros: If you don’t have access to proper service that can reseal a watch correctly while maintaining dust, dirt, and water resistance, solar is a lifesaver. In my location, there are zero specialists who can work with watches rated above 100 meters of water resistance. Without the right tools and skills, they can damage the case anyway.
If you exposed to extreme cold for long period of time. Watches battery especially no MILL SPEC, can be dead or close to dead. Sollar would needed to be just loaded (but it can be tricky any way on cold, especially with metal case). But it's better not get to such situations any way.
Throwback Thursday
Let's do it right this time with a throwback to the early 1950's. I'm wearing the Vulcain Cricket alarm on a buffalo leather strap. Let's see those old watches.
Throwback Thursday
Nice classic watch. There was a time when any diver watch, on metal strap especially, was rise a surprised looks and question where is your oxygen billons and diving mask. Same as smart watches now.
When You Can't Decide
The Garmin Tactical leans heavily into advanced technology, offering GPS navigation, tactical and aviation features, detailed health metrics, and long battery life, making it ideal for data-driven users and professionals. The G-Shock Mudmaster, by contrast, is a durability icon—built like a tank with shock, mud, and water resistance, and designed to survive extreme abuse with minimal reliance on software. While the Garmin excels as a multifunctional smart tool for training, navigation, and mission planning, the Mudmaster shines as a no-nonsense, ultra-reliable field watch. In short, the Tactical is a tactical computer on your wrist, whereas the Mudmaster is a virtually indestructible timepiece that keeps going. Which is your choice?

@Sarah Carter and dem. Some G-SHOCKs ''MGRs'' versions are gorgeous.
@Sarah Carter metal is a metal though. No way that it is absorbs hits same as resign or isolate from heat and cold. I have -40 +40 celsius here. Metal on the wrist outside is a ''no no thank you'' some times.
