6 contributions to The ADHD Operating System
Let’s weaponize our Hyperfixations.
We all have the "Graveyard." You know what I mean. -The closet full of expensive hobbies we tried for two weeks and then abandoned. -The guitar we can’t play. -The yarn we didn't knit. -The coding course we stopped at 12%. We quit because the novelty wears off. The "shiny" stops being shiny. But I’ve noticed a hack: If I am doing something alone, I quit in a week. But if I’m doing it with a group of people who are ALSO excited about it? I can keep that hyperfixation burning for months. I want to start a "Hyperfixation Squad." The Goal: We pick ONE thing we are currently trying to learn or build. And we obsess over it together. The Rules: 1. Pick Your Target: (Coding, Spanish, weightlifting, pottery—doesn't matter). 2. Weekly Show & Tell: We post one update a week. Not a "progress report" (boring). A "Look at this cool thing I found/did" post. 3. Hype Each Other Up: When someone posts, we validate the obsession. We feed the dopamine monster. Who is in? 👇 COMMENT BELOW: 1. What is the ONE thing you are currently trying to learn or do? 2. Write "LOCK IT IN" if you want to join the squad. Let's see if we can make the dopamine last longer than 14 days. 🧠🔥

🎹 I have a graveyard of music instruments (el. piano, few types of flutes, ukulele...). 🧶 I have a bag of knitting and crocheting stuff (and I can do it but the fixation ended and I just don't need to do it). 🧁 I have many sweet cookbooks and cupcake forms and all the decorating stuff (but my partner is obese so there's nobody to bake for). My fixation right now is my blog and all the weird things I'm trying to do to become rich and famous. Like my Skool group I want to start inviting in, but was unable to do so. Like the Kit newsletter service that I opened two days ago, started the Subscribe landing page but did not finish it. So it's not an actual hobby – or maybe is because I have no income from all of this. LOCK IT IN, or rather Lock ME in to sit and work on it 😆 and block my Steam and Epic account 😎
🧹 I’m decluttering the Community (New Tabs + New Plan)
Let’s be real: The "ADHD Operating System" was starting to look less like a helpful guide and more like a giant wall of homework. And since we’re all here because our brains shut down when things get cluttered... I decided to fix it. I’m unpinning all the old "admin" posts. Gone. 👋 Updates you need to know: 1. The Tabs have changed 📑 I reorganized the tabs so you aren't clicking around blindly. Here is where everything lives now: - Living Room: The main hangout. Introduce yourself, ask general questions, or just vibe with the crew. - The Brag Board: Did you do the thing? Tell us here. Big wins or small wins (even if you just washed one dish)—we celebrate it. - 🐿️Squirrel Moments: Random thoughts, memes, tangents, or brilliant ideas that don't fit anywhere else. - Body Doubling: Need a work buddy? Come here to find someone to co-work with so you actually get stuff done. - Loot Crate: The toolbox. This is where I'll drop resources, templates, and the "precious info." 2. The Course is now 4 Levels (Not a giant library) 🗺️ 🚧(COMING SOON)🚧 I’m taking the massive course and breaking it down into 4 clear levels. This way, you don't have to eat the whole elephant at once. Here is your new roadmap: Level 1: The Reset 🧘 The "I feel scattered" stage. We stop the bleeding. We fix the "Intern vs. CEO" mindset and figure out your 4 Energy Modes (Dragon, Human, NPC, Ghost) so you stop fighting your own brain. Level 2: The Autopilot 🤖 The "My house is a mess" stage. We set up the "Chaos Inbox" and build simple rhythms to keep life running without you having to use willpower every single day. Level 3: The Money Map 💸 The "I’m scared to check my bank" stage. No shame here. We find your "Survival Number" and automate the finances so bills get paid even if you forget them. Level 4: The Expansion 🚀 The "Ready to grow" stage. Once you're stable, we use the "Tech-Assisted CEO" plays to scale your income and side hustles. 👇 WHAT I NEED FROM YOU 👇 I want this space to be alive, not just a library.

I’m happy the things started to move
ADHD Operating System Self-Empathy → Real Empathy
We talk a lot here about “stop attacking the operator.” But there’s a second half that matters just as much. If you feel overwhelmed, defensive, misunderstood, or shut down… there’s a good chance the other person does too. ADHD makes emotional signals louder. Faster. Harder to filter. So when a conversation turns tense, the instinct is to assume: “They’re judging me.” “They don’t get it.” “I messed this up again.” This video on Nonviolent Communication: Self-Empathy reframes that moment. Self-empathy isn’t just about being kinder to yourself — it’s how you recognize that everyone in the interaction is probably operating from an unmet need. When you pause and ask: • What am I feeling right now? • What do I need? You’re also creating space to ask: • What might they be feeling? • What might they need? That’s not weakness. That’s regulation. In this OS, we don’t optimize for winning arguments. We optimize for staying connected without burning ourselves out. 🎥 Watch before posting today: https://youtu.be/XvhQe2aPTeU Call to action (pick one): A) A recent moment where you felt misunderstood B) A need you realized both sides probably had C) One sentence you want to replace with a better question D) “Lurking — but this explains a lot” No fixing. No debating. Just noticing. That’s how this system scales — internally and socially. Thank you @Kaleigh Tiffany for sharing this video — it landed at the exact right time and put words to something I’ve been trying to explain for a while. Appreciate you.

🅰️ I’m writing a review of an audiobook. It’s not for my blog, so accuracy really matters. I had one specific question, so I emailed the publisher—something like: “Hello, I’m writing a review and I need to be sure I have X right.” The reply was short: “Hello, this is correct.” And then it went on to explain which narrator reads which book in the series. While reading it, my vision went black and white. There was a sharp line in my head and in my chest: I asked a simple question. I needed a simple answer. I’m not stupid. I know the series. I clearly mentioned I was writing a review—so why explain the basics to me? Did they think I wasn’t professional enough? I "talked" it through with ChatGPT. A few days later, I can see that there was no ill intent. They probably didn’t consider how the reply might land at all. But in that moment, I didn’t feel corrected. I felt misunderstood.

@Jordan Lane Thank you. To be honest, if this had happened earlier, I’d probably have forgotten about it completely 😆 (you know—the ADHD thing). The other part of it is that I’m not a native English speaker, and I know my grammar isn’t always perfect. That’s why I use ChatGPT to help me polish my texts—the same ChatGPT I talked to about this email situation. So it already knows what I’m trying to say 😎

Thank you for broadening my unuseful knowledge 😂 I thought the "dad going to get milk" is a pun to the book by Neil Gaiman Fortunately, the Milk – but it's newer – 2013

Hello there, I'm Alena 🖖 also known as Jane Dillinger on the Internet 😎 🌈 my vibe: soundtrack in my head constantly, Pokémon trainer since 2000, almost always wearing a T-shirt with some gaming or anime character (Spy X Family right now) 📝 my ADHD struggles: time blindness, inability to do more things at once while cooking, inability to perform orders without knowing the reason, logic or meaning (which leads to being unemployed quite often) 🐸 my funny ADHD moment (bc I don't remember the funniest one): I can't remember what to buy in a grocery store but my canisters for flour, sugar etc. have stickers with Animal Crossing characters instead of plain letters and I just DO remember which animal stands for what type of ingredient 🎉 my tiny win this week: on Monday evening finished the blog post I planned writing last Friday (I don't want to spam here, you can find a link to my blog in my profile) ...and I am unable to write without emojis 😅😁
