Question of the day
What do you think makes for the best coaching and community in combat sports? As a coach I love to bring the fun back into the sport while holding each other accountable. Sometimes we forget with all the competitions and stress and hard work that at the end of the day this is a sport and if we’re not having fun and loving the pain then what’s the point? It is possible to work hard and achieve your goals and have fun doing it, with a good attitude and an environment that breeds positivity and a culture of good work ethic, anyone can reach their goals!

My students are having trouble getting their wrists taken up on bottom, besides posting hands out and moving, how can I fight the hands on bottom without giving up position and getting turned?
What do you think most Jiu-Jitsu guys struggle with wrestling wise most??
In my opinion, I think BJJ guys most struggle with is getting to advantageous positions from takedowns. Transitioning from a clean finish to a control position or a submission and not letting the guy roll around is something I feel wrestlers who convert to BJJ have a better time with and taking advantage of putting the guy to the ground and controlling that sequence.
Q&A wrestling class
Just wanna ask this question cause I notice a theme even before I started Jiu-Jitsu….. Does your gym have a wrestling class/program? Or do y’all have a wrestling coach? Cause most gyms these days don’t have a program and I feel like that’s where the problems begin…..

Dude that’s a great point, wrestling definitely requires someone who is a specialist or has a lot of experience to teach and it’s something that should be a core part of your game rather than just a branch hanging off that you do every once in a while. That’s why a ton of BJJ guys just aren’t able to build that solid wrestling foundation because it’s just a secondary skill
