I’m learning… I’m rewiring my brain.
Just did the first part of my Operating Manual and realized every app and planner I ever tried worked fine - they just started at the wrong layer. The tools weren't broken, and neither am I. **(If I can focus, my planners DO work for me.📔🎉 I also caught my biggest trap: the phone always winning when I'm alone and tired. That was never a discipline problem.

That phone is a sneaky thief of time and joy. I love that you’ve acknowledged that you CAN focus, that will open up a better future for you, I’m sure.

I often find that I suddenly remember small but urgent tasks when trying to focus down on larger things. I now often create a list of these to tick off before a deep work session. I call it my “fives”. I Set 5 minutes for each, move to the next task when the time’s up. It often takes 2 or 3 passes to finish everything, and I’m often running around like a mad thing around to try to finish them in the five minutes, but that makes it fun, and it also makes it easier to focus with confidence later. The timer and forcing myself to stop that task when the buzzer goes, is the key motivation.
This Giver has actually asked others for something - Woo hoo!
OK, so I am trying a new venture, Human Toolbox, where I run in-person communication workshops for people to optimise their human side in the post-AI world (the irony is strong with this one). I have created the biggest multi-page monster of a spreadsheet hoping for perfection to create itself ie, you know it, I was avoiding the action yet crazily, optimistically, expecting to win. Jim's twin, prompted me to 1) name a date and time, 2) name three potential attendees, 3) Invite them. I invited five tonight, and two have already accepted. I feel like crying.

@Bobbie Eden Not for the first two pilot classes. I’ll use these to dial in my timing, the room and some of the content, but yes, after then.
Operating Manual Progress
Section 2 of the Operating Manual just explained my evenings to me. The scrolling and late-night snacking I always called weakness turns out to be a wired nervous system grabbing the fastest lever it can reach, and the checking was feeding the exact loop I was trying to escape. And the calmest I've felt recently, walking alone in the hills, was my system showing me the way out.

@Warren Hutt Thanks Warren, I’m pleased to say that my journey has definitely started well here. I’ve found some of my water and jumped in! I appreciate the way people are doing things, sharing and supporting here.
