Self Hosting (NAS Setup for Beginners)
A Raspberry Pi plus an external USB drive can serve as shared network storage for every device on your home network. the official tutorial walks through the full command-line setup. The Raspberry Pi Foundation's NAS guide covers SSH connection, drive partitioning and formatting, Samba configuration, and accessing the share from macOS, Windows, and iOS. It assumes comfort with a terminal but no programming experience. This isn't a replacement for a dedicated NAS appliance if you need terabytes of data, but it's a solid way to share files locally and learn Linux basics in one project. How to build a Raspberry Pi NAS โ€” https://www.raspberrypi.com/tutorials/nas-box-raspberry-pi-tutorial/ (Raspberry Pi, official tutorial) What would you store on a Pi NAS โ€” documents, photos, media, backups?

@Joshua Tennefrancia Yeah, if you have a PI just sitting down and collecting dust why not
Sensors & IoT
Three GPIO wires and a cheap sensor are enough to read live temperature and humidity on your Pi . The DHT22 connects directly to GPIO without extra chips, and the guide covers both live readout and logging to a CSV you can open in a spreadsheet. Note: a few readers hit LGPIO library snags; solutions are in the comments and the tutorial addresses them. Not useful if you need readings faster than once every 2 seconds. What would you do with live temperature and humidity data from your Pi โ€” dashboard, alerts, something else?

1-on-1 Raspberry Pi Coaching with Adil
Stop watching tutorials. Start building. You bought the Raspberry Pi. You've watched the videos. But your project is still half-finished stuck on an error, a wiring problem, or just not knowing the next step. In 45 minutes, 1-on-1, we fix that. This is a working session, not a lecture. Bring your goal or your stuck project, and we'll map the exact path to a working result โ€” live, together. ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜„๐—ฒ'๐—น๐—น ๐—ฑ๐—ผ โœ… Pinpoint exactly where you're stuck โ€” and why โœ… Build a clear, step-by-step plan to your finished project โœ… Sort out the hardware, wiring, and code you actually need โœ… Leave with your next 3 actions โ€” no guesswork ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐Ÿง  A personalized project roadmap ๐Ÿ”ง A parts list + code/templates for your build ๐Ÿ“ฉ Written follow-up notes after the call, so nothing gets lost ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ผ ๐—ถ๐˜'๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ Beginners and tinkerers who are done consuming and ready to ship a real Raspberry Pi project. ๐Ÿš€ 4+ years experience | 20+ Raspberry Pi projects | 4K+ subs, 1M+ views The bridge from "watching" to "building" is one focused session. Sensors & IoT
The DS18B20 is one of the cleanest first sensor projects for the Pi โ€” three wires, one resistor, and you get live temperature readings from Python. Pi My Life Up covers the full wiring diagram and Python script using the Pi's OneWire interface. The waterproof version plugs straight in with no soldering. Updated November 2025 for current Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm). This is the foundation for a temperature logger, not a finished dashboard โ€” but it could be a satisfying first hardware build. Raspberry Pi Temperature Sensor using the DS18B20 โ€” https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-temperature-sensor/ (Pi My Life Up) What would you use ongoing temperature readings for a server room monitor, a 3D printer enclosure, an outdoor sensor, or something else?"
