Collecting
The biggest part of my creative process is actually the collecting. I live on a small island in a rural community, so I don’t have fast access to big craft stores or specialty supplies. Instead, I spend a lot of time wandering beaches, trails, and roadsides, staring at the ground and scanning for anything that catches my eye. I buy very little when it comes to my builds. I genuinely enjoy the challenge of recreating things from found objects and scraps. A piece of driftwood might become a roof, a shell might become a sink, and a seed pod might inspire an entirely new room. For me, it’s a different form of play. The collecting, imagining, and problem-solving are just as rewarding as the building itself. It’s also one of my favourite ways to quiet my mind and connect with nature. How do you find your materials? What’s your favourite way to build?

Hot air balloon - failure?
Hello kind people 🌞 Last night, I wanted to try out a tutorial I saw. The idea was : a ball of tangled yarn string, empty inside, so you can put inside some lights. How : inflate a balloon ; with a very big needle with the string inside, pierce a bootle of white glue side to side ; weave around the balloon the string ; let it dry ; pop the balloon. As the string passes through the bottle, it's supposed to have the right amount of glue on it, and stay clean. "Fair enough, I can do this!" Thought I. Hahaha. That was without counting that I do not have a needle that size. Nonetheless, here I go, dipping the string in the glue as it would come. Did I use a plate to put the glue in it and drag the string through the stuff instead? Oh no, too easy peasy... Let's put glue on my hands instead! Needless to say... It was a total mess. Glue everywhere, Kidlet saying next to me "this doesn't look like anything you said it would...", the string and the cat wanting to play with each other... You get the picture? Anyway, I manage one way or another to finish it up and set to dry. At this point, I have no idea of what it's going to be like, all I have is faith. And go to bed. This morning, I'm a bit eager to see the results. The project is dry, and I cut the knot of the balloon, a bit fearful of the pop... But still, kind of aware that there won't be one, in regards of the amount of glue used. No, it didn't pop. The balloon is totally glued with the string. And deflates slowly. Pulling on the string. You can totally forget the roundness of the thing. And also, no way to get rid of the balloon to stay with just the "round string". I suppose that the results are not what I wanted but don't look SO bad. I can still do the hot air balloon with it... (Life - Lemon - Lemonade concept). I will put the lights in it, once all the rest attached: the basket is nearly finished and doesn't look bad, I guess. But it won't be called a hot air balloon at all. It will be "the giant blue rock that however floats with lights in it". And it will be fun, in its own way.

@Tiffany Streett : yeah, it always disturbs me. I get the concept, the theory, and all the logic behind... But my hands just don't seem to follow the queue. I do my best to train them to be more souple and aligned with my thoughts, calmer... But it doesn't work easily if it's not my natural inclination, my original idea.

Tea with.the Fairies
This is not about building something, but I thought you might enjoy this photo I took when my granddaughter and I were having tea with the fairies. She was 6 at the time(now18). When I sent her the picture she said” you know, I didn’t actually see the fairy, but maybe only cameras can see fairies. “

This is such a very sweet memory 💜 Those who outlive the moment and keep warm in the more difficult days. May it inspire to create those moments with our loved ones also 😉
Tiny moments
I often take the details, before the final glue down and create scenarios in different environments. It gives me a different perspective, interesting backgrounds and a chance to play.
