Hi. I'm Abi from Abi B Photography. I'm based north of Melbourne. My first love is studio pet photography, but I also offer outdoor sessions. I will be offering maternity sessions with pets from this year, which is a new thing for me, and I'm excited for the challenges this will bring. I am a part time teacher, but will be taking leave in 2026 to focus on my pet photography business and to discern if teaching is in my future (I've been doing it for 26 years and I'm tired). I've been in business for three and a half years and my average sale is $1400. I struggle to get leads and convert them, so that's where my efforts need to go for the remainder of 2025 and beyond. These photos are from a recent session which I loved - Riley, the Dalmatian.

@Ina Jalil Yes, I'm planning to start doing them in studio (so I have fewer variables to deal with! Then, if they are popular, and there's a demand, I'll do outdoor ones if required.
Christmas is only 14 weeks away!!
Did you know this??? It's coming fast. Have you got your marketing started for Christmas? What are you doing for Christmas? Some ideas for marketing for Christmas that you can do Christmas 2025 Marketing (October–December) - “Gift a Session” or "Gift an experience" : Position as meaningful, thoughtful gifts for dog lovers who “already have everything.” Push urgency by setting a cut-off date for Christmas delivery. - Countdown Campaign: Social/email series like “12 Days of Christmas Memories,” showcasing wall art ideas, past clients’ stories, and behind-the-scenes prep. - Festive Christmas Mini Sessions: If aligned with your brand, do styled Christmas shoots (studio/outdoor with subtle festive props). Keep them limited and high-touch so they fit your premium positioning. - Artwork Under-the-Tree Guarantee. Create urgency to get them to book in. E.g. Session must be booked by this date and artwork must be ordered by this date so you can gift it under your Christmas tree. - Past-Client Reprint Days: Create a short window to offer to past clients to order prints and artwork from previous sessions. Free gift wrapping for orders placed in the window… pick-up or courier. - Charity Advent: 12 micro-sessions over 12 days… $X from every booking to a local rescue. - The 12 Breeds of Christmas Giveaway: For 12 days, reveal one breed per day. Owners of that breed can claim a complimentary session (with your usual artwork credit/deposit system). They must book by midnight the same day (or within 24 hours) to lock it in. Here are just some ideas to get you started. Comment below if there's other ideas that you have.

@Ina Jalil I have had a look, but my brain is overloaded (parent/teacher interviews, reports and lots and lots of marking. Come Friday, I'll come up for air. I'll jump on your Q&A next week when I'm on holidays. :)
