Is Your Child Ready for Year 10/11 GCSE English?
September might feel far away… but Year 11 arrives VERY quickly! 👀 One of the biggest things I hear from parents is: “I wish we had started earlier.” The students who feel the most confident going into GCSE year are often not the ones who wait until mocks or Easter… They’re the ones who start building those essential skills early. That’s why I am excited to announce… 🎉 GCSE English Summer School launches Monday 6th July! 🎉 Throughout July and August, students will have access to 2 lessons per week focused on building the core skills needed to succeed in GCSE English Literature and Language. We’ll be focusing on: ✍️ Analytical writing: developing stronger paragraphs and explanations 🔍 Inference skills: understanding deeper meanings and writer’s choices 📚 Exploring texts: building confidence with unseen extracts 🧠 Exam skills: understanding how to approach questions effectively ✨ Creative writing: improving vocabulary, sentence structures, and imagination The aim? To help students walk into September feeling: ✔️ more confident ✔️ more prepared ✔️ less overwhelmed ✔️ ready to tackle GCSE English And this is only the beginning… 👀 In September, our full Year 11 GCSE English Excellence Programme officially begins. A complete support system designed to guide students through their GCSE year, including: 📚 Weekly live lessons covering key Literature texts: • A Christmas Carol • Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde • Macbeth • Romeo and Juliet • Poetry ✍️ GCSE English Language support 👩‍🏫 Guidance from qualified teachers and examiners 📖 Pre-recorded units of work and revision resources 💬 A supportive community where students and parents can ask questions 🎯 Support for students aiming for a secure Grade 4 right through to those striving for Grades 8 to 9 GCSE success isn’t built the night before an exam… It’s built through small, consistent steps. ❤️ 👇 Parents, what is the ONE English skill you would love your child to feel more confident with before September? Comment below: A) Analysing quotes

🎯 Why Flashcards Might Be Your Child’s Secret Weapon! 🎯
In my last post on the same topic, we explored how retrieval practice boosts memory and long term understanding, especially when revising for English Literature. This week, I’m showing you another brilliant tool: FLASHCARDS. 🗂️ In the video I’m uploading today, I’ll walk you through how to make effective flashcards that include: ✅ Key quotes for each character ✅ Links to context ✅ The writer’s message or intention ✅ Annotation notes (if you struggle to remember this) These simple cards can make a HUGE difference in how confidently students recall key details in the exam. 💡 Flashcards are perfect for: - Quick daily revision - Self-testing - Studying on the go - Boosting confidence 🎥 Check out the video and start building a strong revision bank one card at a time. The effort now = less stress later! #retrievalpractice #flashcards #englishrevision #gcseboosters #skoolcommunity
