Is anyone out there?
I was SOOO excited when I heard about how people selling digital products were blowing up their sales with Meta ads. So I bought a course and was determined to learn. BUT then I realized as I learned, I made a huge mistake. It wasn't getting the targeting wrong or that I wasn’t designing the perfect images or videos or the even figuring out the right budget. Is anyone out there?
What learning "The Carlton" taught me about online business...
I was spending all day posting, commenting, (and sometimes even dancing 😂) on IG and then watching other people post a few times a week and make sales while my dashboard stayed at zero. It made no sense to me. I was posting more than anyone I knew. I was consistent. I was showing up. And I was still checking my Stripe app at the end of the day seeing nothing. So I started paying attention to what those people were actually doing differently. And it was one of two things: They had spent years building a massive audience or they were running ads. I have twin toddlers. I don't have years. So I figured out ads. And for the first time my products were reaching people who actually wanted them! On days I didn't even pick up my phone. $100/day is $3k a month... but NOT in a good way
The first Meta ads course I took told me I needed to spend at least $100 a day on ads to get results. I did it. I had no idea what I was doing and I flushed that money straight down the toilet. Every course I tried after that felt like it was written in a completely different language. Nobody was teaching ads for someone like me, a complete beginner with a small budget who just wanted to know what to actually do. So I kept putting it off. Telling myself I'd figure it out later when I had more money and more time. Eventually I just started figuring it out on my own. Made a lot of expensive mistakes. And realized that most of what those courses were teaching was way more complicated than it needed to be for someone at my level. I was SO sick of posting on social media trying to sell my digital products, but I really thought Meta ads were only for businesses with hundreds of dollars a day to spend. Not for someone like me with twin toddlers, a digital product, and a budget that had real limits. (Have you SEEN the price of eggs?!?!) So I kept posting. And posting. And watching my Stripe app at the end of the day seeing nothing while other people seemed to be making sales without trying nearly as hard.
