Real Life Mormon Apologetics Opportunity
I know this is last minute, it's last minute for me, as well. There is an LDS church on Hillsboro Pike having an Interfaith Easter Celebration. This could be an opportunity to go, stand on the sidewalk, and try to witness to Mormons. If you come to this event you do not have to talk to anyone. You can just observe. You can also come when you want, leave when you want. I am imaging 6:30-9:30 would be the max commitment. 4304 Hillsboro Pike Nashville, TN 37215 Friday, Mar 27, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM If you're interested, please respond in the poll below and i will reach out to you. https://local.churchofjesuschrist.org/en/units/us/tn/nashville-tennessee-stake/events/interfaith-easter-celebration

It was good. It's a progressive church. I talked to one of the leaders. I pressed him on what Interfaith means and how do you harmonize religions that contradict each other. He's said "If it's good, it's good." So truth wasn't his concern. We did connect with 2 people. I met a guy that was a Baptist turned Mormon. He didn't seem to know anything about LDS theology. That didn't surprise me because of the way the leader talked. I got his number and I'll follow up with him. It was interesting though. I've never seen so many images of Mormon Jesus before. Lol. They're everywhere.
LDS theology question
A thought from the discussion last night. Our LDS friends kept mentioning James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." But it seems to me that if they are interpreting that verse correctly, then there's really no need for the whole rest of the Bible. Do you see what I mean?

If you follow it to the extreme, yes. It's kind of an interesting conundrum that Mormons are in. There's obvious tension between Mormon scriptures and the Bible. There's obvious tension between Mormon scriptures and Mormon scriptures. There's obvious tension between Mormon scriptures and what the prophets taught. There's obvious tension between what different prophets teach. Even Joseph Smith has been corrected by later prophets. So if you're a Mormon how do you harmonize that? You don't have an infallible source; an anchor that can guide you. Well, the only thing you can do is appeal to an internal witness. That's not new to Mormonism, but that's the way they use James 1:5 and Moroni 10:4-5: 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

God Is Not an Exalted Man
Here’s a breakdown from my Substack on the LDS claim that God was once a man, walking through what Scripture actually says about His nature: https://substack.com/@tbqdh/note/c-229976776?r=76bjv7&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action

Mormon Apologetics: The Impossible Gospel
I recently came across "The Impossible Gospel" as a way to engage Latter_Day Saints apologetically. The speaker is Keith Walker. His methodology is very sound. He presses logical consistency that forces the Mormon to confront the nature of thier gospel. Notice he is very intentional about asking Mormon's to define their terms upfront, while being careful not to define them himself. Consider yourself. Your words hold more weight than another person's, and its harder to escape the boundaries you have set for yourself. the same principle appplies to apolgetic encounters. You have to let the person you're engaging define their own terms. You jop is to hold them to those defintions. Remember, Latter-Day Saints use a similar sounding vocabulary with a similar sounding dictionary. But there are enoormous differences lurking below the surface. The similarity can be (and will be) used as an escape hatch later. You have to press for clarity early and then stick to those definitions. I have posted the same lecture twice. I think it can be helpful to hear the same content delivered in multiple ways. The third video is a short, 25 minute breakdown thats very clear and systematic.
