Neuroscience Research Team: Want To Apply?
Hi everyone! I’m thrilled to announce that starting in February 2025, I’ll lead a new research team called SPARK: Students Pioneering Advanced Research and Knowledge in Neuroscience. Over the past few months, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to explore the world of neuroscience—learning about research, writing multiple papers and articles, and collaborating with professors on various projects. These experiences have inspired me to take the next step: leading an ambitious neuroscience project with a dedicated team. Our goal? To produce high-quality research that will ultimately be published in the International Journal of High School Research. It’s a big target, but with a strong, collaborative, and committed team of 6-7 members, I truly believe we can achieve wonders together. If you’re passionate about neuroscience and excited by the prospect of joining this venture, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to comment on this post or send me a private message. Please note that the team will begin its sessions in February 2025, so be mindful of any scheduling conflicts before applying. Let’s spark something extraordinary! (P.S. Once you send your message of interest, I will provide you with a Google Form where you can submit your research.)

@Joseph Lim Hi Joseph, thanks for your prompt reply! You would be a great fit as long as you have written at least one research paper on neuroscience. If you meet this requirement, let me know, and I'll send you a Google Form later today.
How to Stay Motivated When Life Gets Busy
Staying motivated is tough, especially when juggling multiple things. But here’s the thing: motivation isn’t something you magically find—it’s something you create. Action leads to motivation, not the other way around. Here’s how I keep myself motivated, and I think these steps can help you too: ⏩ Set Clear, Small Goals: Don’t aim for the moon right away. Always break it down. Small wins build momentum. For example, if you're studying, aim to finish one chapter instead of the whole syllabus. Each step forward counts! ⏩ Celebrate Progress: We’re often so focused on what’s left to do that we forget how far we’ve come. Celebrate those little wins. Did you finish a task on your to do list? Give yourself credit. ⏩ Create a Routine: Motivation follows action. Having a daily routine—something as simple as setting a specific time for work, exercise, or learning—helps you build consistency. This is the best suggestion I can give you on staying motivated. ⏩ Surround Yourself with Positivity: The people you hang around, the content you consume—it all affects your energy. Make sure it’s inspiring. Whether it's motivational videos, books, or just a friend who keeps you accountable, surround yourself with positivity. ⏩ Remember Your "Why": Why did you start this in the first place? Keep reminding yourself of your bigger goal. Write it down, stick it to the wall, and revisit it often. It’s easier to stay motivated when you remember why you’re pushing forward. Motivation may dip from time to time, and that's okay. What matters is staying consistent and taking step forward. Show up for yourself every day, even if it’s in small ways.

Thank you so much for your advice!
Join My Diamond Challenge Team!
Hi everyone! While I'm sure some are busy with other commitments, I was wondering if any of you would want to participate in the "Diamond Challenge" (Link: https://diamondchallenge.org/) with me. It is a business and science competition that inspires students to create innovative solutions to today's problems. I am looking for people with expertise in machine learning, robotics (engineering), or medicine. Since I have had my fair share of terrible experiences working with large groups for competitions within my school, I am only looking for two or three other members. Please let me know if you are interested! NOTE: The competition is very prestigious and, if the team performs well in the preliminary stages, they will be invited to Virginia to participate in the finals.

Research Publications or ISEF?
Guys, is publishing in a top peer-reviewed journal better/worse/same as competing at ISEF and gained a decent to high ranking, and why?

I have a question: If you were to start finding your ISEF project today, how long would it take to make one that can qualify you for the preliminaries or finals? Additionally, if you were to list the ISEF process from the 1st step to the last step, how would you list it?
Is this the same for all?
So rn it's 3.05 am and I am doing a a school project with my mum. Do ya'll also stay awake this late to do projects?

To be honest, while I tried sleeping at 2:30 AM every day these last two weeks, I constantly see a decline in my productivity as the clock hits 1:00 AM. As a person who firmly believes that caffeine shouldn't be consumed, studying for long periods after midnight can be a nightmare for me, and, while this situation does not apply to everyone, I think everyone should try to wake up early and work on their tasks rather than sleeping late at night. While it may seem difficult at first to do this, I guarantee you that it helps with your mental health and overall well-being long-term.
