Carol Dweck Explained This Theory | Why Most People Stay Stuck
Today I read an article that randomly came in front of me. Usually, I donât read articles that much⌠but the topic was so interesting that I stopped and read it completely. The article was basically about how people are often scared to ask questions because they think others will judge them. And honestly⌠I felt this thing inside myself too. And I think a lot of people feel the same way. Harvard Business Review also talked about a concept called âFear of Looking Stupidâ - which means people avoid asking questions because they think others will see them as less smart. But research also says that people who ask questions learn faster, become more confident, and make better decisions. Iâve noticed that many people get scared before even asking a question. They think: âWhat will people think?â âWhat if my question is too small?â âThis is such a basic thingâŚâ âWhat if people say I should already know this?â And this is exactly what stops people from growing. People donât ask questionsâŚThey donât clear their mindsetâŚThey donât remove their confusionâŚJust because they are scared of peopleâs reactions. But the reality is simple: You have to start your work. You have to learn. You have to grow. And the other person? They have their own life and their own work too. If you keep thinking about âwhat people will think", you will never be able to learn openly. Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck also explains this in the idea of a âgrowth mindsetâ - the people who are not afraid of asking questions or making mistakes are the ones who actually grow. Asking questions does not make you weak. Not asking questions is what keeps you weak. đĽ Sources: - Forbes â Why Asking Questions Is Scary @Shiv pratap Singh @Faiz Rasool
