Making business fit you
Hi I’m Emily, currently in the middle of the US, in Kansas. I am a Second Brain Strategist and Growth Partner helping neurospicy (or spicy-adjacent πŸ˜‰), multi-hyphenate online business owners whose businesses are successful on paper, but feel heavy as hell and are quietly draining them behind the scenes. I work with clients to identify where the friction is that’s making things more challenging than they need to be, figuring out what needs to shift, and mapping out how to redesign the parts that no longer fit so they can grow their business, making more revenue, without the energy drain. I’m expanding into a new direction of my business with different offers and goals and I want to develop my skills at email list growth and conversion so I have a more sustainable marketing system that doesn’t rely on me having the energy to β€˜show up’ on social media. *That’s me and Simba before a client call (best β€˜co-worker’ ever lol)

@Emily Mathis πŸ’― I’m genuinely so overwhelmed by choices. I think I’m getting closer to how I want to set things up, but it can still feel like major doubt before I even test anything out, lol.

@Emily Mathis Yes!!! The overthinking and research planning of it all helped me with clients on the copywriting side and sometimes on the book editing side when I needed to go deeper into the research. Now I’m trying to alleviate my workload by pivoting away from research-heavy things, but I find myself still falling into those old habits. That’s a good reminder on choosing a small thing to move forward. I’m so used to trying something and being good at it because I prepare. Being an entrepreneur is beginning to feel like quite the opposite when you don’t know the best way to prepare, and you just have to do it regardless.πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
Too many options = no growth 😬
I just saw this in a member request… β€œToo many options” And honestly? This is one of the biggest reasons people stay stuck. Because it looks like this: πŸ‘‰ try a summit πŸ‘‰ maybe a bundle πŸ‘‰ maybe a podcast πŸ‘‰ maybe content πŸ‘‰ maybe a freebie πŸ‘‰ maybe all of it And then… Nothing really works. Not because the strategies don’t work… But because you’re not staying in one long enough to see results. Clarity doesn’t come from more options. It comes from: πŸ‘‰ picking ONE visibility path πŸ‘‰ committing to it πŸ‘‰ and letting it actually build momentum Because scattered visibility = invisible results. πŸ‘‡ Be honest… are you overwhelmed with too many options right now?

I’m actually a notorious overthinker so trying to get the right action to match the right goal or vice versa is where I get stuck. I’m not social media savvy and it can feel like a lot of work when it’s just me (would love to have a VA one day), so I tend to put social media off, even as a consumer lately. I have my landing page, my first sequence, but not an audience to capture yet. That’s where I’m more stuck because I’m not just one thing. Anyone else have this issue as you’re building things?

@Rachel Mohl Yes! I’m a book editor and I’m a copywriter. In the past, my audiences didn’t converge, so it was hard to find the throughline when it comes to starting email marketing as a whole. I’m reworking my copywriting services to possibly include authors (creatives) so that everything can feel cohesive on messaging, but they would be two different audiences. That’s why I get stuck. Your idea to color code is a good one though. Maybe once I figure out how to pivot in the copywriting space, I can cross market if the audience is aligned.
Okay WOW πŸ˜… this poll has been ridiculously helpful.
One thing is VERY clear… So many of you are navigating the exact same email blocks: - not knowing what to send - staying consistent - growing tiny lists - fitting email into real life - tech headaches πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« Honestly, this has given me such a clear picture of what the community needs more of. So I’m going to start building more momentum-style support around this inside the group. But first… If you could wave a magic wand and fix ONE email frustration right now - what would it be? πŸ‘‡

Honestly, not knowing what to send but mainly because I have so many ideas but they feel fractured. I’m working on my website to launch for book editing to go with it but I feel like I’m being boxed in with one email list for this niche side of my business since just talking about book editing can get too information-heavy or redundant.

@Kylie Kelly Yes! I can do book editing but talking about the process or sharing tips feels too on the nose. Though I’m all about learning, I’m not sure how teaching focused I actually want to be with that service. I feel like to have more to say with the editorial copywriting side of my business but I don’t necessarily have ideas for content around that quite yet. The problems of a portfolio career, lol!πŸ˜‚
I made the switch!
I switched my email welcome from a sequence to one email in February and have loved it since. I used Kylie's template! It has felt freeing, and because I email multiple times a week it has given more space for my email newsletters with limited time offers and affiliate promos. I hosted a bundle last week (Home Crafted Hostess Bundle- with PLR/ MRR for parties, gatherings, and events) and although I sent emails almost every day with the same offer the open rate remained consistent (and the results were the best I've had compared to last years bundles I hosted). I really love that rather than flooding inboxes with a welcome sequence I was able to keep my audience's focus on the bundle. Thank you Kylie!

This is a great point! Hopefully I can get to that level once I get my systems up and running.
Hi everyone, just joined today and happy to be here!
I'm Vivienne, originally from the UK, now living in Canada with my husband and two golden retrievers. We are now empty nesters with both kids away for school, and honestly? Nothing prepares you for how quiet the house gets :( My background is in healthcare. I spent 20 years as a midwife and public health nurse before stepping away to build my own online business. These days, I'm a certified nutritionist and menopause coach. I help women over 40 understand what's actually going on in their bodies, so instead of feeling like everything is working against them, they learn to work with it, and symptoms become much easier to manage. I've recently started my own small Skool community, and I'm really enjoying the platform, so I'm excited to be part of this one too. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
