My intro & happy to be here
Hello I am Lynn and have been working on learning new homesteading skills. I have most experience with animals but am working to improve my gardening knowledge and skills. I am an avid fan of composting...especially with worms. New England, mom of 5, been homeschooling for decades. Teacher...lifelong learner.

@Dee Hew You can definitely still get them someday. Start to learn. Read and research what can work in your area. Best to learn before getting them.

@Jim Flach WOW...my response disappeared. I wrote you a book. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The website is FranklinFarmRI.org/education I run Backyard Farmer in the Spring and Fall for homeschoolers and Farm Science (6 weeks of half Day programming for kids from all over as it is Summer) Other people run Pond Science and another woman runs a Storytime. It is on a Historic Farm that was the last working dairy in Cumberland RI. I live about 20 minutes away on just over and acre and half of land. I started with chickens at home ( and worms) then added ducks, geese, turkeys and goats. We did raise pigs years ago but only seasonal as that is all my town allows. I find that running programing at the 65 acre farm. I am exhausted when I get home and my home garden suffered. So I now I mostly do my growing ( other than herbs) at the big farm. We should be getting an education greenhouse this year. The education label implies I will not have to share with the rest of the farm. ๐Ÿ˜‚ We ( the big farm) are the largest non-commercial donator to The Rhode Island Food Bank. Good things happen at Franklin Farm and I am so happy to be a part of it.
Are you doing this?
Are you a coffee drinker? I am not, but my wife is and I know many others are. I mean my grandparents drank it in the morning and in the afternoon. If you are then what do you do with your spent grounds? Do you put them in the garden? https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/garden/2009056/gardeners-urged-sprinkle-coffee-garden-february

Yes we drink coffee. The grounds either go in the compost pile or I add some ( not a lot) to my worm bins.

My teen used to work at Starbucks and then at another coffee shop ( not national known) and I would get the big bin of the day's worth of grounds. I always add them to my compost not right into the garden. Too much coffee grounds in a worm bin can mess things up...but some is good.
Biodegradable mulch anyone?
I have used cardboard in the past. What kind of mulch do you use? https://www.thecooldown.com/green-tech/biodegradable-paper-mulch-plastic-alternative-gardens-agriculture/
