🏆 Cycle 2 Winners Are Here!
Cycle 2 is officially wrapped, and we’re excited to announce the builders taking home a share of the $17,000 USDC prize pool. The Community Council decided to split 2nd place between two builders this cycle: 🥇 Knock by @Kaichao Sun: $7,000 An encrypted chat built on Nimiq where users can set a connection cost for strangers while keeping conversations private. Knock also supports sending and receiving NIM directly in chats, tipping other community members, and joining public group conversations. 🥈 Blacktop by @Jesse Lukose: $4,000 A privacy-first ride companion built for real riders and real rides, whether you’re riding solo or with a crew. Blacktop combines ride tracking with Pay Up, its built-in wallet, plus Blacktank, a shared crew fuel pot that only pays out with a unanimous vote, and instant QR tips in NIM or USDT. 🥈 NIMIQ.kids by @Andjroo Me: $4,000 A family Mini App that turns chores into real NIM. Parents set rewards, kids complete jobs, and approved rewards are sent directly to an account the child owns. Kids can then spend it on screen time and treats, keeping the whole flow within the family. 🥉 PROOF by @Christopher Okunade: $2,000 A learning platform that combines AI-powered skill paths, real-world challenges, and verified proofs to help users demonstrate what they can actually do. The goal is to turn learning into something you can prove, showcase, and use to unlock new opportunities. Big thanks to the Community Council for reviewing every submission and selecting this cycle’s winners. And of course, thank you to everyone who built and shipped a Mini App this cycle. You made Cycle 2 one to remember, and we’re excited to see where you take things next. Want to dive deeper into the winning submissions? congratulations to all the participants, and especially to the four winners. Honestly, I’m glad they split it up the way they did, because it really makes sense. It must have been incredibly close between all the candidates—or at least within the top eight—for them to have to make that kind of decision. I absolutely loved the experience, but on a more personal note, I honestly didn’t expect it to hit me this hard. I’m disappointed. I’m really glad I did it, and it was genuinely a lot of fun, but yeah… I’m more disappointed than I thought I would be. I really didn’t expect to react this way. I’m realizing that this was actually the first competition I’ve ever entered in my life. So I guess not being selected hits a little harder than I expected. That being said, I’m going to take a little break and keep focusing on my own little projects. We still have until the 14th, so there’s plenty of time to keep moving forward and see whether we continue our little crusade. 😆 I also want to thank everyone who took the time to test my app and give me feedback, even though it wasn’t selected in the end. I really appreciated the time and effort you put into it. Hopefully, we’ll see each other again in late October or November. Thank you!

Great news! Although I’m sure this probably caused some anxiety among a few of us 😆 So, I wish myself and all the other participants the best of luck! As for me, I’ll probably be back for Cycle 3. And if I don’t make the top 3, at least I can tell myself that my political party is now in power 🤘🏻😁 So I’ll just take that as my consolation prize! 😆

@Laura Fluieraru You nailed it. If anything, I’d go even further—I’m a fucking separatist.😆

I’m really happy to hear that there’s going to be a third edition of this really interesting little competition. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of this third round, and especially to finding out whether we’ll be given some specific constraints or a more focused theme, or whether we’ll still have complete freedom to create whatever we want. As for me, I’m not going to reveal everything I have in mind just yet. Some people have already seen a few things I’ve posted, but I’ve got another ace up my sleeve that’s slowly taking shape, and I’m finding it really interesting so far. This one is a bit more relatable to everyone, I think, compared to QuickProof. The idea actually came to me from watching people at work—and people in general—using email and similar tools. So, we’ll see where it goes. I might even be tempted to release this project completely open source. I haven’t made up my mind yet, though. 😄 Until then good luck to everyone 🤘🏻

@Jeremy Lee Oh my God, thank you! I honestly don’t even know how I feel right now. I feel… honored, I guess, just to have been mentioned. It’s pretty amazing, and I really didn’t expect it. So yes, I want to wish everyone who participated the best of luck, especially all the people whose apps I actually saw and tried. Because out of those 142 entries, there are at least 100, probably even more than 120, that I haven’t seen at all. But regardless, I want to wish everyone the best of luck. As for me, I don’t think there’s much more to add at this point. I haven’t received any other feedback saying that certain things weren’t working or that people wished there were more options. So I think QuickProof has pretty much reached its final form. And honestly, that’s perfectly fine, because I already have two or three other projects sitting on my tablet that have been waiting for a very, very, very long time. One of them is already in progress, and I might have something to announce eventually. I’ve been talking with a third party that is actually very important to how this project could work, and they’re very interested, so that’s pretty exciting. Now we just have to see how we can bring Nemo—or something similar—into the picture. But that’s another story. And there’s also another little personal side project that I think is really cool. So I’ll probably have to decide which one I want to focus on more seriously for Cycle 3. But anyway, thank you. Honestly, I don’t really know what else to say. Just being nominated is already something I’m really happy about. Thank you
🎤 How did you spend your weekend?
142 Mini Apps are under review and the wait is almost over. While the Community Council works through your submissions, we want to know how you spent the weekend. Were you making some last improvements to your Cycle 2 submission, planning what you want to build for Cycle 3, or taking some time away from the screen entirely? Let us know in the comments, and stay close for the next announcement.

Glad to hear that Cycle 2 is coming to an end soon and that your judging duties are almost finished. I assume you’re probably happy about that too! 😆 So, let’s wish everyone good luck — especially me, of course. 😂 Although, to be honest, I have very low expectations. I did have a great weekend, but honestly, weekend or weekday, they all kind of look the same to me. I’ve been working pretty hard on the next cycle, and things are finally starting to take shape. We’re no longer in the “just an idea on paper” stage. It’s functional now. There are still some glitches, obviously, but the foundation is there. Now it’s mostly about polishing everything and making sure it all works smoothly. There have also been a few changes in direction from the original idea for the project. But now the direction is clear, and it’s starting to become something pretty awesome, especially with some of the features I haven’t really seen anywhere else so far. So we’ll see where it goes. But either way, it’s still a lot of fun to build. 😎
