Just talked to Westinghouse Recruiter
Hey everyone, I got ahold of Tricia today from Westinghouse. She was very thorough with explaining the process. She emailed a link to apply for the Decon positions at the Westinghouse site that cannot be accessed by just visiting their website. I was told to pick outages I’d be most interested in and send them to her which I’m about to do. She said they will begin their full staffing process next week. She explained they take people's wish lists and sends the plant the resumes that come with the application. I’m excited to get into the field! I was falling back into the pattern of just going to work and coming home, and not actively pursuing this career move. I’m happy I decided to call today 🙂 I took a photo of the outage list and asked chat GPT to coordinate what would be the best outages that go along with my goals, and it did pretty good for the most part, but there is a bit of overlap in between these outages. Can I leave one early, or start one later? I don’t know how that’s viewed in the nuclear world. @Michael Williams you probably have a good idea on how this works? Have a great day everyone

If it’s all under the umbrella of one company like Westinghouse then that is worked out between you and the recruiter- you can plan to leave early one outage to get more work/existence long term. When it gets dicey is if you personally try orchestrating multiple companies in a outage season like RSCS and Westinghouse as both companies would or could frown on that. Keep it all Westinghouse and you’ll be fine just make sure you and the recruiter both agree on report and exit dates.

@Matloc Mosher In theory yes however ultimately it’s usually a bit of a give and take on both ends. Sometimes it works out perfectly and sometimes you have to agree to what they have. They are more willing to work with you and give you what you want as you progress and become a senior tech/memorable name to then
Surry completion May 25th
Good morning to all, When I get done May 25th with Surry in Virginia I’ll be posting about the pros and cons from my perspective for working Turkey Point in Florida, Surry in Virginia, and Monticello in Minnesota as I worked those this spring. I’ll do the same for the fall plants. Hope everyone is well. Always feel free to hit me up if you have any questions. I’ll be talking with Eric Bartlett about a recruiting position shortly after. Lastly I plant to send a Grid invite to all of the techs I have in my contact list as I’ve been slacking on that and much more working to get through the outage season- hopefully many more contracting RP and Decon in the community this summer

Recruitment
Good morning gang. There is a chance I may become an official recruiter for Westinghouse this summer- they need help bad and think I would be a great fit since my main skill sets are fast communication and coordination. This will be hugely helpful to anyone on the Grid. I will keep everyone posted on this.

@Josh Sherrill Thanks man, not official by any means. Just on the table for now as they do need help but budget constraints could cause it to fall through.

Hey all, currently studying for RP wanted to ask do I follow this paper or just read the whole manual ?

I would say both for certainty but some other people on here have recently went through the course material and took the tests so they would be better suited to answer this questions as it’s been awhile since I’ve taken the test
