Incorporating strength training
Iām struggling to fit strength training into my routine and Iām wondering if I could get some insight from the community. For background, Iām a 40 year old working dad, so my schedule is busy. Iāve been back to training for the last 4 months after several years away from cycling. Iām mostly training for longevity and fun, but my competitive nature has me wanting to do some fondos/races here and there, and maybe snag a neighborhood KOM or two. Right now Iām able to fit in 4-5 sessions on the bike/trainer a week - which typically ends up being 7-8 hours. Iāve mostly been doing Z2 up until the last month, and lately Iāve been adding in 1-2 threshold/sweet spot sessions per week. Iām hesitant to lift on rest days, trying to keep them truly restful. So, should I lift on low intensity days, or on the high intensity days? Ideally Iād like to lift 2-3 times per week, with no/few breaks during the year. Thanks!
