Incorporating strength training
I’m struggling to fit strength training into my routine and I’m wondering if I could get some insight from the community. For background, I’m a 40 year old working dad, so my schedule is busy. I’ve been back to training for the last 4 months after several years away from cycling. I’m mostly training for longevity and fun, but my competitive nature has me wanting to do some fondos/races here and there, and maybe snag a neighborhood KOM or two. Right now I’m able to fit in 4-5 sessions on the bike/trainer a week - which typically ends up being 7-8 hours. I’ve mostly been doing Z2 up until the last month, and lately I’ve been adding in 1-2 threshold/sweet spot sessions per week. I’m hesitant to lift on rest days, trying to keep them truly restful. So, should I lift on low intensity days, or on the high intensity days? Ideally I’d like to lift 2-3 times per week, with no/few breaks during the year. Thanks!

Tyre pressure calculator - proof it’s legit!
First time using the tyre pressure calculator yesterday. Works really well. For cyclocross last night I rode Vitoria T80 33mm. It recommended pressure of 24psi. It was spot on!

@Anthony Walsh is there a gage you’d personally recommend? Ive always just relied on my track pump gage but would like to have a decent one to check.
Welcome (start here)
Over the coming the coming weeks i'll be adding free resources as we build out this community. To kick off your journey here, i'd love to know: 1. Where are you from? 2. What's your big goal this season? 3. Drop a pic of your bike....

Anthony, I’m excited to try this out, thank you for creating this space. I agree that most social media is too busy with other topics these days, I don’t need everything in one place I need the info I want in one place. 1. I’m from North Carolina, USA 2. This year my goal is to do my first race. I’m 40, and took about a decade off from the bike. I started riding again in the fall and found your podcast helpful. I’ve been building my base with lots of Z2, much of it on the trainer and now I’m sprinting in sweet spot + threshold work. I’ve got two young kids and a full time job, so I’m lucky to get in 8 hours a week. I’m 6’3” and 100kgs, so no illusions of being a 55kg mountain goat. Just trying to find a balance between getting fit for longevity and, scratching my competitive itch and having fun. 3. I just picked up a gravel bike this fall, but here’s the bike I’ve been on for the last 20 years.
