April 9 - April 15: What is ONE thing youโ€™re committing to this week?
My goal for this week is to do an upper body stretching routine everyday for 10 minutes. My outcome goal (end result): to reduce pain (tension headaches, sore muscles and joints) My performance goal (how I will measure my success): I will get less tension headaches and have more range of motion in my wrists, elbows and shoulders As you can see I am ONLY focusing on my PROCESS GOAL, which is the ACTION/BEHAVIORS I will commit to. The other two goals are the result of my actions.

My main outcome goal is to improve my core strength so it will help me to lift my hands over my head to do things like shampoo my hair in the shower. I do have a belt now but would be nice to not rely on it at some point. My Process Goal is to research proper exercises to help with improving my core strength. My Performance Goal is to Implement these exercises that I've already printed off.
Let's talk about how to set goals (that you actually accomplish)!
There are three types of goals: Process goals: what you will do (actions and behaviors) Performance goals: how you will perform (standards/measures of performance) Outcome goals: your desired result Outcome goals are what most of us think about when we set goals, but they are only a small (arguably unimportant) piece of the puzzle. They give us a "what" to achieve, but the other two types of goals give us the "how" and the "how well". Let's look at an example using fitness. Process goal: Do 30 minutes of strength training, once daily, for 60 days Performance goal: Be able to do 50 bicep curls before failure using a 15 lb weight. Outcome goal: Gain muscle and definition in my arms You can see from this example that the outcome goal is the "what" and the other two are the "how". The process goals and the performance goals will eventually get you to your end result. James Clear, author of the book Atomic Habits, argues that outcome goals aren't actually that important and that if you ignored the outcome goal altogether you'd still achieve it as long as you maintained the other two types of goals. He refers to process and performance goals as "systems" and says that "people don't rise to the level of their goals, they fall to the level of their systems". I have seen this clearly in my own life which is why I am going to focus on process goals in this community and I hope you will too. Tomorrow I will post a worksheet that you can use to brainstorm and prioritize your goals, so watch for that! That's all for now! See you tomorrow!

I shall be there... 11am Eastern time for me.
Why did I start this group?
Welcome to The Happy, Healthy, Awesome Project. I'm so glad you decided to join me on this epic journey. I started this group because, over the last few years, my habits have slowly drifted into obscurity. Things that used to matter to me (like exercising, meditating, and eating healthy, being productive) have all but disappeared from my list of priorities. What started as a way to regain some balance (letting myself have the occasional treat, taking rest days from working out) has slowly become a permission slip to embrace an unhealthy lifestyle. I eat waaaay too much junk food, I don't get enough sleep, I haven't exercised consistently in at least a year, I'm chronically unproductive and I spend entirely too much of my time mindlessly scrolling on social media, comparing myself to others. These aren't habits I'm proud of and they aren't ones that are helping me live a life I'm excited about. I want to change that for myself and for anyone else who can relate to feeling stuck. This community is a place for me to track my progress and a tool to hold myself accountable. I know that showing up for you guys is ultimately going to help me show up for myself. You'll find me in the community multiple times a week doing live workouts that you can join in on and on a weekly accountability call that I'll host so that we can share our weekly goals and wins. Together we will hold each other accountable and work together to build habits that will leave us feeling happy, healthy, and awesome! See you inside!
