Scissors: I've got questions
This is a topic that I find confusing -- at least, online. I have discovered that my yarn cutting scissors get dull really, really FAST! Hubby has sharpened them for me. At first, they are great! But before long, they are dull again. So I went searching for some that would work well for pompom making...(since that is where I am in making my Sleepy Bear). I learned the hard way that making pompoms with dull scissors is pretty much impossible! I found some higher prices scissors with free professional sharpening in Canada. But, I would pay more in shipping both ways than the cost of the scissors themselves. So not practical for me in the USA. Then I found a pair in the Atlanta, Georgia area, but would still be without them for about a week with shipping both ways...paid by me. So now I think perhaps the best approach may be to buy new scissors, use them until they no longer do that job, then turn them into paper scissors, and buy new ones. I have the gray handled Fiskars scissors right now. But they are NOT going to "cut it" when I make the pompom for my Sleepy Bear. What's your favorite go-to scissors for yarn? Especially for making pompoms?

@Tina Bryner That’s a brilliant idea!

One thing I discovered is that scissors with titanium coating cannot be sharpened. Just use folded aluminum foil to clean the blades. The sharpening action would remove the titanium coating and make them useless.
Welcome a new Knitting machine
I received today my new knitting machine, and I am happy that I can try my new machine. It's a 48 needles Jamit . Small inconvenience , she don't have a counter of rows, but my husband will install one.

@Linda Simard Enjoy! Please let us know how it handles different yarn weights. I have been considering getting one to be able to use more variety of yarn weights.

@Linda Simard Thank you! I have found that the darker colors act differently on the Addi even when they are the same weight and brand and same name.
Question: To Sleepy Bear Makers
I am making my second attempt at making a Sleepy Bear. How do I know if I have the right amount of stuffing? My first attempt was too much and made it hard to get the arms and legs right. I think giving me an idea of how far apart the tips of the fingers when pressed hard together. Maybe like an inch apart? 2 inches? Maybe in centimeters for those who operate in metric.? Or some other way so I can determine how much is too much or not enough. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Maybe in grams or something like that?

@Amanda Berridge I was thinking of trying that approach. It seems like a good place to start, As an experiment. I weighed the knitting after the 100 rows and handwork before stuffing. It weighed 60grams. Then I filled it with bits of fiber fil til it seemed close to right. It ended up being about 40 grams. I’ll see how it is once it’s finished. I might want a bit more in the head next time. It is not as filled out as I’d like, but it’s close. The nose gave me lots of trouble. I couldn’t get first one to be round—it looked more like malshaped flower. I tried a second one with looser tension and an extra row. It looked too big, but it was round at least. But the black wedge turned out too big, so I ripped it out and tried a completely different approach. I made the nose completely including the black wedge before attaching it to the face. Looks much better. It’s a combination of a crocheted magic circle, with a line of Tunisian crochet at the top to help delineate and smooth the black embroidery that makes up the wedge. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too high. So I’ll be ripping it off and moving it down a couple of rows . But I’m getting there. Thank you for all your help!!
