I built the budget I wish existed...
Now I need you to tell me what I missed. It’s finally here! I just finished the first version of The Rockstar Budget and I’d genuinely love your honest feedback -- nothing is precious yet 😅 Since this is an early build it means your feedback actually shapes what it becomes. Consider this an open draft. Then, let me know: 👉 Was anything confusing or unclear? 👉 What part clicked immediately for you? 👉 What felt unnecessary or overcomplicated? 👉 What’s one thing you’d want added or explained better? 👉 Would you actually use this monthly? Why or why not? 👉 If you were recommending this to a friend, how would you describe it in one sentence? Tear it apart. I can take it. 😎

Ok I have yet to get to this and watch it lol. Been a bit busy getting things in check and work and fetch and trying to avoid a depreciating assets further tanking(more on this later). Anyway a while back I bought a Leuchtterm to start Journaling or what not. I decided last month to start writing down the money. What comes what goes and where. Last month the frivolous was naughty. But since I've never been a sit down and balance the checkbook (does anyone write checks anymore). This method seems to be helping me see the light. Excuse the background 50 year old bachelor here. Apologies to those who are triggered by my chaos lol.

@MJ Berst mmm sounds divine save me one lol. I'm trying to figure out a video fire... well porchside chat about it. I'm not exactly sure about how the writing and balancing with the calender and the app are helping it click. Maybe it's the repetition, like doing a report or a task
The Tax Man Cometh
I know it’s only the beginning of February, but tax season is closer than you think. Give yourself an edge this year. Save yourself the April panic spiral and start now! If you’re anything like me, there’s a small part of you that would happily be tossing tea into a harbor somewhere. I still lean hard toward the belief that taxation is theft -- or at the very least, forced participation in a system you didn’t design and never agreed to. You don’t have to love it. But you do need to understand it. You don’t win by yelling at the system... you win by knowing it better than it knows you. So, let’s prepare properly for tax season. Step 1: Get Your Documents in Order Before you think about TurboTax or a CPA, you need your paperwork straight. Create a folder right now called: TAXES 2025 Digital. Physical. Both. I don’t care. Just do it. 🧾 Most Common Documents to Collect If you’re a W-2 employee: - W-2 from your employer - 1099-INT (interest from banks) - 1099-DIV (dividends from investments) - 1099-B (investment sales) - 1098 (mortgage interest) - 1098-T (tuition payments) - Childcare statements (if applicable) - HSA contributions (Form 5498-SA) - Retirement contributions (Traditional IRA receipts) - Property tax statements - Charitable donation receipts Overlooked items people forget: - Side gig income (Venmo, PayPal, Stripe 1099-K) - Bank bonuses - Gambling winnings - Jury duty pay - State tax refunds from last year - Marketplace health insurance Form 1095-A If it hit your bank account, assume the IRS might know. Step 2: If You’re an Entrepreneur, It’s a Different Ballgame If you’re 1099 or self-employed, welcome to the big leagues. You are responsible for: - Income tax - Self-employment tax (15.3%) - Quarterly estimated payments Before filing, have: - All 1099-NEC / 1099-K forms - Full income summary (Stripe, PayPal, Square, etc.) - Profit & Loss statement - Mileage log - Business receipts - Home office square footage - Health insurance premiums - Equipment purchases - Software subscriptions - Contractor payments (and 1099s you issued)

Also apparently you can deduct car loan interest for 2025. I received a letter from the loan company telling me to consult the IRs or a tax pro. Buuut I'm guessing that standard deduction covers that on my single w2 no kids renter butt.
Sunday Funday: Animal House 😂
No, not the movie. My actual house! The inmates run the asylum over here. It's never a dull moment and I wouldn't have it any other way 😂 For the record, I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I grew up in a household full of pets, and I've always been an animal lover. Someday I'd like to have a green tree python 🐍and a horse! The only downside to pets is I am a wanderlust and I love to travel. The cats have timed, automatic feeders, so I can leave them alone for some time and as long as I leave them a big bowl of water, they're fine. The dogs pose a different issue. While I have brought 2 of the three with me on several occasions (thank goodness for pet-friendly hotels!) typically I end up boarding them or dropping one off with my brother or parents and then having someone watch the other two. It's. Not. Cheap. All of my little menagerie is comprised of rescue animals. I love purebreds, but I have a soft spot for the misfits. Do you have any pets? Drop photos below! Tell me their stor(ies). I already know @Jeff Baer is allergic 🤧 and I know @Keith Marvicsin has the sweetest oversized lap dog 🐶 But I'm curious if anyone else has any non-human family members in their household!

@MJ Berst well I managed to get it to a round 15k
Kangen water
Has anyone invested in these or been thru the pitch process on them? It seemed kind of pyramid to me. But still has me curious. Was wondering if anyone has or had experience with them. My former trainer is in the program now. And seems to be raking in funds with no real actual selling etc.

@MJ Berst yeah I kind of figured it was a bit of a gimmick. I sat thru a zoom meeting a few months back because I was curious about the side hustle she was getting checks from. When they showed me what it was I snickered a little and rolled my eyes. I know a few people that have them. Seems pricey for something you can do a lot cheaper. I bought a Nakii filter pitcher and counter top thing a while back that seems to do what I want. And last I knew the water here wasn't treated with flouride.... yet. Ive learned there's no get rich quick, only schemes and cons. Ive even been caught off guard by an Amway sales pitch while at a ballgame.
Hope yall are staying warm and prepared
Such a huge storm. Hope everyone got prepared and made plans for all contingencies. Stay safe and bundled up.
