So..... I made a cat ear beanie on the Addi 46 pin earlier today. I've now made a 2nd one on the Caydo that came today. Obviously they are similar size machines but that's where the similarities end. The hat I did on the Addi is huge in compared to the Caydo. Obviously the tension in the Addi is completely different. It was the first one of these hats I've made so that needs to be taken into consideration as I can play around with the tension on the Addi next time. On the left in the pictures is the Caydo version, except the one with me wearing it. The tension on the Caydo is superb, there are 5 different ones and I used no 2, and it's the same regardless of the speed you choose, it's very consistent. These are both 110 rows but the Addi version is long enough to have a very wide fold over brim, the Caydo is virtually no fold over. In the book that comes with the Caydo it does say an adult beanie with fold over needs to be 130-150 rows but I wanted to do a direct comparison. I've only just used the Caydo but so far I'm hugely impressed with it. I had a few hiccups to start with but that was down to me and the yarn choice. I tried to use the yarn straight from the ball but it was difficult and it kept splitting and causing tucked stitches. I wound a ball into a cake and that worked much better, no stopping and starting the machine and smoother pull from the cake. I'll be getting to grips with the machine over the next few days 😁

I am planning to make a Loop Shawl for my sister-in-law. I have never used Caron Cakes yarn before. The pattern says it needs a certain number of cakes/cones/skeins depending on the type of yarn used.. My question is this: 1. How many yards do I actually need? 2. Do these yarns come in different sizes of cakes? For example, I know that not all Lion Brand Yarns of the same brand come in only one size of skein. When I am looking at the yarn and consider what I need to buy, I need to know if the cake I am looking at is the same size of cake as the pattern calls for. Does this make sense?

I made a this in the Trailing Ivy pattern (CraftyCaz on YouTube). I used Lion Brand Heartland in color Cuyahoga Valley. Not sure I’ll keep this pompon out if I’ll change to a different color.

This was made from yarn I got from Temu. The color is lovely and the yarn is very soft. My only problems with the yarn was it splitting a little bit on the first couple of rows of each piece, and when knotting it, if pulled just right it would break and not leave enough tail to weave in. I’ve got to fix the second mitt because of it breaking too short. And I hardly put any pulling pressure on it!

I have just discovered something on the Addi. Perhaps you all knew. There is a little hole for your needle.
