We just hit 100 members. 🎉
When I created this community, I honestly had no idea if anyone would join. I remember looking at the member count every day. 2 members... 5 members... 17 members... wondering if I was building something people actually needed or if I was just talking to myself. Today, we crossed 100 members. I know 100 isn't a crazy number compared to some communities with thousands of people, but for me, it's a reminder that every big community starts with the first person who decides to believe in it. More importantly, it's not just 100 members. It's 100 people trying to build something for themselves. People publishing newsletters, getting their first subscribers, landing clients, asking questions, sharing wins, and helping each other. That's what makes this community worth showing up for. So thank you. Whether you've been here since the beginning or joined yesterday, I'm genuinely grateful you're here. That said, we're just getting started. I want this to become the best place on the internet to learn how to grow a newsletter, and that only happens if we keep improving together. So I'd love your honest feedback: - What's been the most valuable part of the community? - What should I improve? - What would you like to see more of? Every suggestion gets read. Also, over the next little while, I'm opening a few newsletter audit calls where I'll personally look at your newsletter, growth strategy, and give you personalized feedback on what I'd focus on next. If you're interested, just comment: Audit I'll send you all the details in DM so check your message :). Here's to the first 100. Now let's build something even bigger together. 🚀

Congratulations! The most valuable part has been the community itself and also the foundation lessons you provided. I found a lot of value in those and got to learn a lot about the platform. So, instead of starting from nowhere, now I have an idea of the platform and how to navigate through it. Thank you so much! We can have Myth Busting Monday where you decode a myth about substack and the truth about it or Tipsy Topsy Tuesday for sharing tips or tricks for growth or just learning. The main aim of these will be to provide value in less time and keep the community active throughout the week, so keep it short, clear and try to cover anything in less than a minute or two. Once again, thank you for creating this community. Merci!
We often celebrate the wins... but what about the hard moments?
One thing I love about this community is seeing people share their subscriber milestones, launches, and growth. But the truth is... Most of the real work happens during the moments nobody sees. For me, one of those moments happened around 750 subscribers. I launched my first product and... crickets. Almost no sales. Almost no feedback. I got one customer after a few weeks (which made me very happy 😄), but they didn't even go through the content. Then Christmas came around and I took a huge break from Substack. When I came back, it felt like I had lost everything. The momentum. The engagement. The connections. After putting so much effort into building, I was honestly discouraged. What helped me was going back to why I started in the first place: To build freedom. To be proud of myself. To use my time on something meaningful. To share my thoughts with people who cared. So I wrote an article about how I felt. Ironically, it got some of the best engagement I'd seen in a while. More importantly, I felt relieved. Since then, I've tried to build with less pressure and more enjoyment. And looking back, moments like that are part of the reason I'm still here today. My question for you: What's one difficult moment in your writing or creator journey that almost made you quit... but taught you something valuable in the end? 👇

Not in the writing or creator journey, but when I started my Etsy shop, in the first few months I got very less views like 1-2 views per day or sometimes 1-2 views per week. I did almost everything right. But, still the views was not that much and also this period of less views lasted for around 5-6 months. After that, I decided to quit and I stopped paying attention to it and stopped giving it my time, energy and focus. But, suddenly, last month I got 2 sales and this made me realize, we should never give up on something without trying it for long enough to work. And also, we should never quit or give up. If one thing doesn't works even after trying it perfectly and for long enough, then try and experiment with other things. There are so many things, so many fields and topics to explore in this world. Because something has to work in the end always.

@William Leroux True! I agree with this.
Lab Note Boost #6
Hey everyone! Welcome to our weekly Lab Note Boost!! 🤩 The goal is simple: share a piece of your work and connect with others everyday FRIDAY. (oups a bit late this week...) Not only is it fun to connect with writers who are on the same journey as you, but it’s also proven that when you engage with someone else’s Note or post, it gets pushed to more people, helping that writer grow. (a good strategy to learn in the Substack Accelerator in the Classroom!) If we all participate, this can create a massive boost. Here’s how to participate: - Say what you write about - Share 1 Note or 1 piece of your work - Say who it’s for - Connect, engage, and interact with 3 other writers in this Boost (likes, comments/restack!) Continue the good work everyone! (A first Live together is coming up on the 20!)

I write about the things that shape how we create and build brands, businesses, and ideas worth caring about — design, art, AI, strategy, creativity, and the occasional reminder of why any of it matters. This is for the people who are going to start their new business or brand, and they want to learn about the foundations of brand building: https://designandart79.substack.com/p/ep-1-the-3-foundations-most-brands
