Wow, am I filled with memories of trauma work in my beloved Belize! I didn't count but I suspect I trained about 75 people in all over 4 days. I thought I'd share with you some of what seemed to come up over and over. Here goes: ๐ง You really are what you think. You just can't live a positive life with a negative mind. If you fill your mind with trash, you will feel like trash. What you think, you believe, and what you believe, you feel, the way you feel, you act. Soโฆstop talking trash on yourself, on others, on the situation in the world, etc. etc. etc. Here's the crazy part! It's easier to act you way into new thoughts than it is to think your way into new actions. So, sometimes you have to fake it 'til you make it! The feelings, beliefs, and thoughts will follow the actions. Thank you, neuroplasticity, for that! That's your brain's ability to reorganize itself; to create new neural pathways. The more you "travel" down those new pathways, the more your brain will automatically go that way. ๐ญ Emotions are not problems; they're signals and warning signs. Feel them. Let them inform you. They are the voice of your heart. Anger tells you you're passionate about something, that boundary got crossed somewhere. They signal a blocked goal. Anxiety signals an uncertain goal. It tells you you're stuck in the future. Get back into the present! Depression often signals an impossible goal. It tells you you're stuck in the past sometimes. Or, that you are struggling accepting that what is, is. Your past is only one chapter in your life; it's not the whole story. There are more chapters ahead. So, let the past go and live in the present as you prepare for your best future ever. Make your current chapter amazing. Learn from the past, but don't live in it.
