Clarity in the process. (new author to the community)
@Erica Love and I had a great call today... 🗨️ I asked her what success looks like - a year from now: 🤗 Success feels like having written & published her book (maybe with Red Thread Publishing). Obstacle: 🤗"Who wants to read what I have to share?" more of a doubt/fear than a real question. 🗨️ I recommended she listen to this meditation to connect with WHO NEEDS HER MESSAGE Erica: 👇 Please share in the comments 👇 what you got from the conversation & what your takeaways/action steps will be.

I love the part about "We are here for those who need our message." So true! And I loved the idea that our story can change the world even if it change's just one person's world (even if that one person is me)! All good reminders to tamp down the fears and write the thing anyway. Thank you! 🌹
Who is your ideal reader?
As we write ✍🏼 it is invaluable to have a clear sense of who you are writing for. You may not meet them ... Ever ... Or for a while, but strive to have a clear vision of who needs your story. Review the core message framework in the Writing 101 course in the classroom... And watch the Red Thread meditation.... 🪷🕉️ (pic. Me with a dear friend @Carolyn Kaufman & my second book, Date Yourself.)

My ideal reader is a do-gooder who wants to go out there and change the world somehow. She's adventurous and open and gets herself on a volunteer trip somewhere overseas. When she gets there, she is 100% ready to help but quickly realizes her idea of help needs to be framed in a new way. She struggles, stumbles, and gets caught on the idea of how best to help because there are a million things that need to be done and none of them are the one she came there to do. She works to uncover how best she can define her "success" as a volunteer. I hope that my reader can take away the idea that we don't always need to do something to be of help. Showing up, listening, observing, smiling, trying to understand, and being present are amazing ways to help people (and ourselves!).
1️⃣ The “No Excuses” Writing Accountability System
❌Problem: People say they want to write a book, but life gets in the way. ✅ Solution: We create a structured accountability that keeps you writing, NO excuses. 📌 Strategy #1: The “Book Contract” Commitment: Sign Your BOOK Pledge: 1. Write this out by hand: “I will write my book this year. No more waiting.” 2. Sign it ✍️ 3. Post a pic of your Pledge in the comments.... 4. Put your copy somewhere you will see it 3x times a day. This works because **(Psychology hack: commitment increases follow-through.)**Here for the Win!🏆 Note about signing... ⁉️ ✍️ Create an ⭐Author AUTOGRAPH⭐.... how you will sign books... *** not how you sign contracts/cheques 🔖** This is for security & privacy. Also, get practicing autographing books so you are ready when asked. 📚

Solo Writer's retreat: behind the scenes
Day 1: I sat in silence I drafted an impromptu poem I journaled a bit I listened to an audiobook I snacked on cheese & crackers I did nearly nothing tonight ***What I want to share is there is still some guilt about resting/ vegging out and "accomplishing" nothing. I'm aware of it but also aware it part of what I'm here to do. Feeling: "I should have done more. I should have done better." Noticing how deep the resistance to rest is imbedded... Overriding this cultural programming. More updates coming tomorrow. 😴💤😴💤😴🥱 Day 2: (see more pics) Slept well Early morning guided meditation ( dr Joe dispensa, en español) Cozy slippers ☕ Coffee & fruit Journaling Breakfast 🥞 🍳 Ready to look at my draft📜📝 Midmorning: Learning by reading my own words. "Meaningful rest is a deliberate practice of slowing down to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the work to cone. It's an act of rebellion in our over scheduled world, to rest deeply without guilt. But rest is not a luxury -- it's a skill and a necessity." - from my drafted manuscript. 💥 Boom 🤯 Pm. Out for lunch & and a cheeky margarita. ( I don't drink much, just playing with it ) Read my entire manuscript. Red pen style. So excited to implement the edits.... After a shower 🚿 & a nap. Then it's ready for the editor ( final edit) week. Exciting. + Terrified. = Excitified DAY 3 Am Meditation. 🧘🏼‍♀️ Shower 🚿 Integrate edits✍🏼💥 🚖 Drive home ☎️ Meetings & Calls ... Get on with life Next day Co-writing session in the morning ✍🏼⌨️🖊️ Manuscript almost done ✅ 🌹 integrated.

Celebrating 🎉 Carolina
Our very own @Carolina Cifuentes inaugurated the FEMTECH conference today in Medellin Colombia. It was profound. Beautiful. Impactful. She did an incredible job and held the attention of the entire room for an hour. She brought me... And many others to tear. We were all changed. Do honored to have been in the room. So proud of here. So grateful she works with me to support our authors. What does your future hold?
