What is the policy for tipping and gratuities?
Royal Caribbean supplies the option to pre-pay your gratuities at the time of booking your cruise, with rates varying by stateroom category: - Standard Staterooms (Interior, Ocean View, Balcony, and Junior Suites): $18.50 per person, per day. - Suites (Grand Suites and above): $21.00 per person, per day. These gratuities are distributed among crew members, including dining, bar, and culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams who work to enhance your cruise experience. In addition to the daily gratuities, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all beverages, mini bar items, and spa & salon purchases. However, if you receive outstanding service, you might consider offering an extra tip directly to the bartender or server. This can be done by adding an amount to the receipt or handing cash directly to the staff member. Such gestures are appreciated and can enhance your service experience. It's important to note that gratuities are shared among various crew members who contribute to your experience, including: - Stateroom Attendants: Responsible for maintaining your cabin. - Dining Services Staff: Including waiters, assistant waiters, and head waiters who serve you in the dining venues. - Bar Staff: Bartenders and servers in lounges and bars. - Culinary Services Staff: Those working behind the scenes to prepare your meals. - Other Hotel Services Teams: Crew members who ensure the overall cleanliness and functionality of the ship. These combined efforts contribute to the quality of your cruise, and the gratuities serve as a way to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. If you want to opt out of gratuities, then you can do so at the time of booking the cruise or at guest services during the cruise.
