From idea to published video in 1 day.
  1. Yesterday I got an email from a friend saying they were sorry they missed a group live due to their partner feeling well enough to hang out and do fun stuff. (I obviously replied saying to never apologize for this💕)
  2. On my way to my Mum's, I stopped off in the car and filmed 2 minutes talking head to camera video about how it's important to take every IRL opportunity with our loved ones, and how today I am going on a Roadie with my Mum - and will try to grab bits of video.
  3. I took bits of video throughout the day.
  4. When I got home, I chucked my 'talking head to camera' footage and every piece of quick video I took during the day to see if I could slice them in together. I have never done this technique before.
  5. See this image below where I show what I did. I trimmed anywhere of my talking head video that seemed like a natural pause, then dragged the rest of that talking head video over to the right, to see what surprise bit of video just happened to be next (after all, it was chronological order of the day). While I was editing, I got excited as I saw I was not only telling 'a' story, but I was showing the day play out. The 'show not tell' thing.
  6. It's the latest video on my channel called "Family First: Disconnecting to Reconnect" if you want to see it, but I was pleased how this low effort format turned out (while I was hanging with the fam in the lounge watching "24"). It was a very quick edit because it didn't have to be perfect, the medium was the message sorta kinda, and it was even better that it wasn't perfect.
Have you used this technique before or have any other 'From idea to published video in 1 day' formats you can share with us?
