WELCOME TO THE DECADES YOU MISSED
If you're like me, you grew up on great Rock music. The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Blondie, Stevie Ray Vaughn and everything in between. Then life happened: kids, careers, mortgages, traveling, responsibilities and somewhere along the way the new music stopped finding us. We thought maybe the music had changed. Turned out we just weren't hearing it. This group is about discovering the great songs released since they had us all believing that the world might end at Y2K. At some point after that, many of us started looking for new rock music and we couldn't find it. The radio stations were playing classic rock, hip hop, indie music, or techno. Satellite radio wasn't much better. And streaming services had music, but no direction to lead us. No one to show us. We found it. And just like when we grew up discovering music from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, we're going to do it again with you. This time it's from the last three decades since the turn of the century. Bands and artists influenced by all that great music we grew up with and they're putting out some great songs. So come along and join us. There's a lot of rock and roll to catch up on.

Monday Free Pass Feature Song
"Nobody" -The Sheepdogs We're stepping into the Southern Rock genre today with a band that, while formed in 2004, didn't really break into the music scene until 2011 when they won Rolling Stone's "Do You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star?" contest, beating out 15 other acts with over 1.5 million fan votes to become the first unsigned band ever to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone (August 18, 2011 issue). They described their own sound as "a double bill of April Wine and Lynyrd Skynyrd". The twin-guitar harmonized leads ("guitarmonies") are a direct nod to the Allman Brothers/Skynyrd Southern rock tradition. They now have four JUNO Awards, two platinum singles in Canada ("I Don't Know" and "Feeling Good"), over 250 million streams, 15 Top 20 singles with 3 of them hitting #1, and a 2025 arena tour opening for Bryan Adams.
