I published a press release for The Expectant Author through EIN Presswire… and WOW
— the messages are suddenly coming out of the woodwork!
Since the release went live, I’ve received:
offers to promote my book
video trailer services
Goodreads promotions
“reader outreach” opportunities
interview invitations
marketing packages…and more.
Some look legitimate. Some… not so much.
For those of you who have launched a book or issued a press release: Did this happen to you too?
How do you separate legitimate opportunities from scams or overpriced services?
Are there any services you would recommend?
What red flags do you watch for?
I’d love to hear your experiences and advice before I start responding to everything landing in my inbox.
Publishing a book is definitely an adventure!
Ps. I have responded to a couple and they were indeed scams. One claimed to be an admin for a Goodreads list and turns out she was not.
