I just spotted this plate and it is first moped I have seen up close on the new 3M sheeting. Based on the serial it was likely manufactured last fall or possibly this spring. There are two things that seem odd about it. Does anyone else notice anything?

Over the last two weeks I have noticed a pretty significant uptick in the number of new standard license plates being issued through the online system. A lot of these are expiring a year + two months from now, which makes me think the standard plate replacement/reissuance has begun again. (2 months ahead being roughly when registration renewal reminders are sent out.) The last time I saw Jeremy (last fall's meet) I asked about the reissuance and he said all 6 digit plates S and older were set to be replaced --but as of late summer 2025 the reissuance had been put on hiatus due to lack of funding. New money had been allocated, but the DMV had not received it yet at that point. He also noted DMV was planning to wait until after the Blackout and Retro Yellow plates became available on the hopes a number of people with older plates would replace them themselves with these new options saving reissuance money.

These are not the right plates… someone messed up at DMV.

Managed to find another of my holy grail plates - a 2024 Purdue University on-campus out-of-state parking permit. These were required for people (not me unfortunately) who were out of state students where the state they were from only required 1 plate and the student had a C-class parking permit. The ID number on the front linked to your other license plate so you could park on campus lots and the parking authority could still scan your plates. These are stupid rare and extremely hard to find because most people recycled them or gave them back to the university.
