Simple Ways to Stay in Touch With Your Teen
Staying connected with your teen doesn’t come from big, perfect conversations. It’s built in small, consistent moments over time.
Here are a few ways to stay in touch (without pushing them away):
1. Keep it low pressure
Teens open up more when it doesn’t feel like an interrogation. Sit near them, drive together, or talk while doing something else. Side-by-side often works better than face-to-face.
2. Focus on listening, not fixingI
t’s tempting to jump in with advice, but most teens just want to feel heard. When they do share, try to listen fully before responding.
3. Stay curious about their world
Even if you don’t fully get their music, style, or interests—show interest anyway. Asking questions without judgment builds connection.
Connection isn’t about controlling every choice your teen makes.
It’s about staying close enough that when it really matters… they come to you. 💛
