Electrical Fundamentals: The First Thing Every HVACR Technician Should Check
⚡ Monday Electrical Tip ⚡ Great HVACR technicians don't start by replacing parts—they start by understanding the electrical circuit. Before troubleshooting any HVACR system, ask yourself one question: 👉 Is the circuit complete? A complete electrical circuit has five basic parts: ✅ Power Source ✅ Protection (Fuse or Breaker) ✅ Control Device (Thermostat, Relay, Switch, etc.) ✅ Load (Motor, Contactor Coil, Compressor, Heater, etc.) ✅ Return Path If any one of these is missing or has failed, the equipment will not operate correctly. 💡 Pro Tip: Always verify power with your multimeter before assuming a component has failed. A quick voltage check can save you time, money, and unnecessary part replacements. 👇 Today's Question: When troubleshooting an HVACR system, what do you check first? A️ Incoming Voltage B️ Thermostat C️ Breaker or Fuse D️ Wiring Connections E️ I’m still learning Drop your answer in the comments and tell us why. Electrical Tip of the Day: Voltage, Current, and Resistance
Basic Electrical Tip: Before you can troubleshoot HVACR equipment, you need to understand these 3 words: Voltage = the electrical pressure pushing power through the circuit. Current = the flow of electricity. Resistance = anything that slows down or limits the flow. Simple example: Voltage is like water pressure. Current is like the water flowing. Resistance is like a restriction in the pipe. Question for today: Which one do you struggle with the most? A. Voltage B. Current C. Resistance D. Reading wiring diagrams E. Using a meter
