This group is about loose style or impressionistic watercolor painting. I've been sketching almost all my life and since discovering the watercolor medium I've stuck with it ever since. I learned mostly through library books and soon found my favourite painters - John Pike, Edward Wesson, and James Fletcher Watson among others.
I learned to draw almost by accident. As a child my parents would send me over to rural Ireland for the long Summer holidays. There were not always other children to play with so at some point I started sketching the chickens and other farm animals. And I continued with my new hobby when I returned home, sketching my favourite footballers from newspaper photos.
A few years later I did a Foundation course at Portsmouth School of Art and Design but left early for a job in Portsmouth Dockyard as a 'Fire Watcher', where I had a constant queue of welders and fitters waiting to get their portraits drawn.
So now I hope to pass on some of the experience Ive gathered.
