Friday Energy
Friday energy is always a little unpredictable as a writer ✨
Sometimes Friday feels exciting:
🌿 the weekend is almost here
🌿 you survived the week
🌿 maybe you finally have time to write
…but sometimes Friday feels exhausting because the week took everything out of you. And honestly? Both are valid.
I think one of the hardest parts of building a writing life is learning to work with your energy rather than constantly fighting against it.
So if you’re heading into the weekend feeling drained, here are a few gentle ways to reconnect with your creativity without overwhelming yourself:
✍️ Lower the goal. Maybe this weekend’s goal isn’t “finish the chapter.”Maybe it’s:
  • write for 15 minutes
  • brainstorm scenes
  • reread your draft
  • attend one writing sprint
☕ Romanticize the process. Light a candle. Make coffee or tea. Put on music. Sit outside.
Sometimes, making writing feel inviting again helps more than forcing it.
🧠 Rest counts too. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do for your creativity is actually rest.
You are still a writer even when you’re tired.
💛 Small progress still matters. A few paragraphs count. One page counts. Showing up imperfectly counts.
So tell me: How do YOU find energy during the weekend to work toward your writing goals? 👇
