Okay, I wanted to share this because it came up in a conversation today and I know SO many of you are either thinking about becoming a VA or are just getting started.
Working from home sounds amazing (and it is in a lot of ways)… but I think there’s a side of it that people don’t talk about enough.
Yes, you get flexibility. Yes, you get to be home with your kids. Yes, you’re building something for yourself.
But it’s also not the “easy” route.
When you work for yourself, you’re the one responsible for everything. There’s no clocking in and out and just getting paid. You have to find the clients, do the work, manage your time, and actually follow through.
And honestly… not everyone is built for working from home.
It takes a LOT of discipline, organization, and self-motivation. Especially when you’re used to a 9–5 where everything is structured for you.
At home, there are distractions everywhere. Laundry, kids, life… it’s so easy to slip into “I’ll do it later” mode.
You really have to create structure for yourself.
Things like:
- Having set work hours
- Creating a dedicated workspace
- Setting boundaries around your time
Those aren’t just “nice to have”… they’re what actually make this work long-term.
And I think one of the biggest shifts people have to make is going from an employee mindset to an entrepreneur mindset.
That alone can be a huge learning curve.
So if you’re feeling like this is harder than you expected… you’re not doing anything wrong.
There’s just a lot that goes into making this lifestyle actually work.
I’ll be sharing more behind the scenes of how I structure my days, how I manage everything, and what’s worked for me so you can start figuring out what works for you too.
And as always, if you have questions, drop them in the community. I’m always happy to help 🤎
