Keeping the Mind Active in Vietnam
One of the quiet benefits of living in Vietnam — whether you are a digital nomad, semi-retiree, retiree, or someone like me on a recovery journey — is the chance to slow down without switching off.
But peace does not mean doing nothing.
A healthy mind still needs a project. Something creative. Something that gives structure to the week and keeps the imagination moving.
One idea is to create your own YouTube radio-style show.
It does not need to be expensive. It does not need to be perfect. It can be a talkback show, a storytelling series, a Vietnam diary, a travel reflection, a crime-fiction channel, a wellness show, or even short conversations about life abroad.
As an example, I created After Midnight with Daktari Knight, a late-night fictional radio call-in show. It keeps my mind active, gives me a creative routine, and allows me to build something slowly from Vietnam.
This episode gives a good overview of Season 1 and shows what is possible when you combine storytelling, voice tools, YouTube, and a bit of imagination.
The message is simple: retirement, recovery, or life abroad does not have to mean becoming passive.
Create something.
Keep the mind awake.
Vietnam gives us the peace. What we build inside that peace is up to us.
