Sara is a beginner user and we went through the basic stuff to get her going. Transcripts: This video provides a practical introduction to video editing in CapCut, focusing on essential tools and workflows for beginners. ### **Timeline Management and Basic Editing** * **Audio Fading:** To fade audio out into silence at the end of a clip, click and drag the small circle located on the audio track. * **Trimming Tracks:** If an audio track is too long, select the track and drag its edge inward to match the video timeline. * **Removing Duplicates:** Clips can be easily removed by selecting them and pressing delete. * **Timeline Navigation:** Use the slider or keyboard shortcuts (like Control + plus/minus) to zoom in or out of the timeline for more precise control. * **Snapping Function:** The snapping tool helps align clips precisely on the timeline. If the "sticking" sensation becomes inconvenient, it can be toggled off. ### **Captions and Audio Quality** * **Auto Captions:** CapCut can automatically generate captions by analyzing narration. Users can navigate to the "Text" menu and select "Auto captions" to trigger this feature. * **Caption Editing:** Once generated, captions appear as boxes on the timeline and can be manually edited, split, or merged. * **Audio Levels:** It is critical to ensure audio is loud enough for viewers by checking the green bars in the audio display; if too low, the volume can be boosted using the audio slider. High-quality audio is essential, as viewers are more likely to tolerate poor video quality than poor sound quality. ### **Exporting and Best Practices** * **Export Settings:** To finish a project, use the "Export" button in the top right corner. Users should provide a descriptive file name rather than generic numbering. * **Resolution and Format:** By default, CapCut exports at the resolution of the original recorded media to avoid distortion. H.264 is the recommended codec and MP4 is the standard file format. * **Overcoming Editing Anxiety:** Beginners are encouraged not to be intimidated by the software. Because the "undo" function allows users to reverse actions up to 10 times, experimenting is a safe and necessary part of the learning process.
