Learn the Theme of the Event
I performed a show today for a senior volunteer lunch. It was a Super Hero Theme. In my show I playfully added some super hero comments and things. When I finished the show one of the event planners said "I was so impressed the way you did your research and added in some Super Hero bits to tie in with our theme."
So there is an idea for you all, find out the theme of the event and add a few little things and they will love you for it.
