We took the plunge, sold everything and bought a mountain in Portugal. Knowing nothing about farming olives or pretty much anything, we thought 600 odd olive trees would be a nice place to start. No running water, no electric or gas but there is good 5G.
A family of six David (old) Alison (younger) 4 kids 7y and under, an old dog called Pepper, and Spots, Thunder & Lightning - the 3 mice who travel with us.
So far we’ve learned (often the hard way) about solar, growing stuff and have created a base with solar and water. Our aim is to help people reconnect with nature and relearn forgotten skills as we go along together, we have space for people to visit but be warned it is remote and there is nothing I repeat nothing around. Nearest life and coffee shop is 20 mins drive or a beautiful 3 hour walk.
Our group is called Van to Valley as we’ve done different off grid solutions with the kids, currently exploring UK in the van hopefully giving them the best life
