The Temple Made Not of Hands.
The Temple of the spirit is built in silence. Its foundations are laid in discipline. Its stones are selected from daily conduct. Its pillars are raised by fidelity, temperance, justice, and brotherly love. No clamour attends the noblest workmanship, for the soul is enlarged by quiet obediences and perfected by labours unseen. Each day offers its stone. A generous act squares one surface. A conquered impulse smooths another. A truthful word sets a course in order. Thus the Builder proceeds, patiently and without display, until the inward house begins to take the proportions of a sacred design. Character is architecture made visible. Build with clean hands, and the Temple will bear witness.
