Welcome to Unapproved: Quit Your Way
Hey everyone, Mason here. I want to start by saying this group isn’t about perfection, rules, or judgment. It’s about finding your way to break free from cigarettes, vapes, or nicotine in a way that actually works for you. I was a smoker for 19 years. I tried everything to quit: patches, gum, pills, hypnotism and even cold turkey. Nothing stuck. What finally worked for ME was switching to vaping. On October 11, 2013, I put down my last cigarette and haven’t looked back since. My health improved, my wallet stopped bleeding money, and my family got the best version of me back. I was so impressed with how doable quitting became that in June 2014, I opened my own shop. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of people quit smoking and reclaim their health. Having mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, friends and siblings come in and thank us for helping their loved ones get off of the cigarettes has been one of the most rewarding events of our lives. After 11 years, I’ve seen one truth repeat itself again and again: when people are given the right tools, a clear plan, and a supportive community, change isn’t just possible. It’s inevitable! That’s why I created this space. I’m tired of seeing nothing but negativity in the headlines about vaping and quitting. The truth is, lives are being saved every single day. And I believe the stories of success deserve to be louder. My goal is bold: to bring one million people into this free group and prove what’s possible when people quit together. Quit Path: Box Breathing
Stress is one of the biggest triggers for smoking or vaping. When stress hits, your body floods with cortisol, and your brain remembers the “quick fix”, nicotine. But the truth is, cigarettes don’t actually remove stress, they just distract you and give a short dopamine spike. Once the effect fades, stress comes right back, often worse. Box breathing is a tool used by Navy SEALs, athletes, and therapists because it lowers stress hormones in minutes and restores calm. The inhale/exhale pattern mimics the rhythm of smoking, which makes it an especially powerful replacement for cravings. When I was first trying to quit, I noticed how often I reached for a cigarette during stressful moments; arguments, money worries, long workdays. The first time I tried box breathing, I was skeptical. But after a few rounds, I felt calmer. No coughing, no guilt, just relief. It showed me I could actually calm myself faster without nicotine. Action Steps (Try This Today): 1. Sit comfortably and close your eyes. 2. Inhale slowly through your nose for a count of 4. 3. Hold your breath gently for a count of 4. 4. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 4. 5. Hold again for a count of 4. 6. Repeat this cycle at least 4 times (about 2 minutes). 7. Pro Tip: Next time a craving hits, step outside or into a quiet space and try box breathing before lighting up. Even if you still choose to smoke or vape after, notice how your craving level has shifted. Try it right now, even once.
