It’s been two years since I started recording my practice sessions. I put this year’s recording alongside the first one and last year’s, and watching them together helped me notice things I hadn’t picked up on when I watched them separately.
Some of what I’ve been working on is showing up in how the movements connect to the music. But looking back is also humbling, because I thought I was doing pretty good at every stage. I like how I’m dancing today, and next year I’ll probably notice things in this recording that I can’t see yet.
That’s what this week’s article is about: keeping something to look back on, giving the earlier version of yourself some credit, and recognizing that what you want to get better at can change along the way.

I’ve attached the short comparison if you want to see the difference between the three recordings.
Have you ever looked back at something you recorded and noticed a change you hadn’t realized was happening?
