These recaps come from the classes I teach in person in New York City. After class, I record the material in my home studio and break it down piece by piece. If you came to class, you can use it to review. If you couldn’t make it, you can learn what we worked on and practice at home.
This week, “breaking rhythm together” means changing what your partner might expect next—staying in place, bringing a step back, or changing the timing—and making that clear through your connection. We also worked on keeping hand changes light and adapting when your partner feels something differently than you intended.
The clips below are previews of the solo and partner work. In the full recap, I break things down two moves at a time before putting everything together. Then Maya helps me work through the partner version the same way.
