Common Content Creation Roadblocks
When you're first starting to drive traffic to your Skool, it’s easy to feel like you’re staring at a brick wall.
Most people quit before they ever see a single member join because they get stuck in the "Content Roadblock" phase... but usually, those blocks are just excuses our brains make because we’re afraid of failing.
Here are the big ones I see (and have felt myself) and how to punch through them:
  1. "I don't know WHAT to post."
This is what I do: think about what your "Content Pillars" (sub-niches) are so you always have a bucket to grab an idea from.
Create at least five content pillars and then break those down even further.
Check out the further explanation to that HERE.
Once you find something that works, don't reinvent the wheel... remake that video again and again until it stops working.
You also need to make time for ideation.
Instead of mindlessly scrolling, curate your "For You Page" on whatever platform you want to post on.
Scroll and only like and engage with videos in your niche.
Eventually, every video on your FYP will be something you can get inspiration from.
If I see a video that catches my attention, I write down the hook or the video idea in my notes app. And WHY I think it got my attention.
NEVER straight-up copy someone else’s video, but it is totally fine to get inspiration from other creators.
Once you have your content pillars, you can mix and match hooks and formats from other people's videos with your own topics.
2. "I don't know WHERE to post."
This part is tough.
Should you be on YouTube? TikTok? Pinterest?
The answer is... where do you actually hang out?
If you enjoy a platform, you already understand its "culture." And what type of videos work there.
If you’re a YouTube person, do YouTube.
If you like raw, unfiltered TikToks, do that.
The best platform is the one you won't dread logging into every day.
And if you enjoy being there, most likey your people are there too.
3."How much should I be posting?"
Consistency is the only thing every algorithm rewards.
If you post five times one day and then go silent for a month, the platform won't like that.
There is no limit to how much you can post... I’ve literally made over 30 videos in one day on TikTok, and the Instagram CEO has confirmed there is no limit for Instagram either and I know many successful Youtubers who post once a day or more.
The more important question is: how many videos can you realistically make consistently without burning yourself out?
4."I don't know how to edit videos."
All the major platforms... YouTube, Insta, and TikTok... are starting to favor more raw, unedited content.
This is happening for a few reasons: there is so much polished AI content and "bro-marketing" gurus with highly edited videos out there that people are craving authenticity.
Honestly, you don't have to edit much anymore.
The most important thing is WHAT you are saying and HOW you are saying it.
I’ve spent hours editing a video only to have it barely get any views, and I’ve literally filmed on the front camera of my phone off the cuff... no edits... and gotten millions of views.
A lack of editing skills doesn't have to hold you back anymore.
(alhough if anyone is interested, we can do a call where we talk about editing basics)
5.The Fear of Judgment (The "Cringe" Factor)
This is especially true if you have friends or family following your business accounts.
If you feel "cringe" talking about your Skool or making content because you're worried about what people from your "real life" will think.
The truth is... those people aren't your future members.
If it helps, make separate accounts entirely for your business content so you can speak freely to the people who actually want to hear from you... and literally BLOCK everyone you know on those accounts.
6."The Silence Phase"
This is the hardest roadblock to push through...posting to zero or very few views.
When I started making content, I got barely any views for months. It feels like you're shouting into a void, but you have to realize the algorithms are just "learning" who you are and who to show you to.
And to be blunt when EVERYONE starts making content it's not good.
If you stop now, they will never find you.
What is your biggest roadblock when making content?
