“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33, KJV
Many of us spend our days worrying about the same things Jesus spoke about in this chapter — food, work, money, the future, and whether our needs will be met. It’s easy to let these concerns take the first place in our thoughts. But Jesus gently redirects our focus. He doesn’t say that our needs are unimportant. In fact, earlier in the chapter He reminds us that our Heavenly Father already knows what we need. Instead, Jesus teaches us the right order for our lives. Seek God first. When we put God first in our day, in our decisions, and in our priorities, something powerful happens: our hearts become aligned with His will. Our worries begin to lose their grip, and we learn to trust that God is caring for us in ways we may not always see. Seeking the kingdom of God means: - Making time for prayer - Studying His Word - Choosing obedience even when it’s difficult - Allowing God to shape our character and our choices It is not about perfection. It is about direction — continually turning our hearts toward God. Jesus promises that when we seek Him first, “all these things shall be added to you.” This is not a promise of luxury or wealth, but a promise that God will faithfully provide what we truly need. Today, pause and ask yourself: ✨ What am I putting first in my life right now? ✨ How can I seek God first today? Even one small step — opening your Bible, whispering a prayer, or choosing faith over worry — is a step toward the kingdom. 🙏 Prayer Heavenly Father,Help us to seek You first in everything we do. Teach us to trust Your care instead of worrying about tomorrow. Shape our hearts so that Your kingdom and Your righteousness become our greatest desire. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 💬 Discussion What is one practical way you can seek God first today?Share below so we can encourage one another.
